The Crew lounge has a problem there’s not enough to it

These changes are some that could be made


General
—————
•ability to assemble and hire a crew

•# of members recruitable based on ship size

•different roles
-senior officer
-fighter pilot
-engineer
-quartermaster
-weapon specialist
-security

•they report the situation in their respective areas periodically or if something happens
-Senior Officer: our situation is unfavorable, we have the upper hand, they are attempting to flee, I suggest we flee

-Fighter Pilot: fighter is down we have another ready, more ships are targeting the fighter

-Engineer: more power needed to systems, x internal modules are repairing, engine power is optimal

-Quartermaster: hatch breaker cracking hatch t-17 seconds, lost 11 units of x, sir this shipment is corroding the ship we should deliver this quickly

-Weapon Specialist: more power needed to weapons, x weapons are damaged, damaged weapons are coming online/ can’t repair without reboot

-Security: missles incoming 700m and closing, the enemies multicannons seem to be malfunctioning, we are wanted here sir I suggest we keep a low profile


•crew members COULD have unique personality traits
-brave
-stoic
-prankster
-shy
-dramatic
...etc

•crew can interact and talk with each other in comms, when flying in supercruise or when idling, possibly about recent events

•crew members with conflicting traits could argue in comms

•to some the conversations might get annoying, so since your the captain to help that you could look down to the crew panel then order shipwide silence except for reports


Additional Functions

• only the fighter pilot would show up and be able to deploy in the fighter

•to avoid being unbalanced non fighter pilot crew members don’t provide your ship with benefits except for the the audio report

•holding onto crew you leveled up isn’t worthwhile since if you die you lose them. Make it so that they use escape pods, but a penalty is still needed so it takes them like 30-50min to be recovered & brought back to the station and you have to cover the medical bill (obo 250k per person) so you can pick them back up




Tweaks

• remove ranks for crew and replace it with a hidden bar representing their skill for how well they preform and can be leveled based on the longer they are with you
Ex:
-fighter pilot: better in combat
-other crew: more precise situation reports

•if we included current crew credit cut running a full ship would be insanely pricey so the crew cut could be 2% per person and stay fixed

• for this the current rank based hiring costs should be eliminated and and replaced with a increased widespread cost that vary from person ea. 400k< X <700k since realistically different people would be working for different amounts

• additionally when crew members are in the inactive crew they don’t receive a cut since they aren’t working

•Can only have 1 person active on ship in each role

•crew personal per ship cap, tier based on other similar ships/ power+ cost groups
-sidewinder= tier 1: none
-eagle. = tier 2: 1
-cobra. = tier 3: 2
-asp exp. = tier 4: 3
-chieftain. = tier 5: 4
-python. = tier 6: 5
-big 3 = tier 7: 6

Extra

•add the hired crew members occasionally walking around the bridge and talking to one another in ships where it’s applicable, they go away during combat since it might impact game performance
- I’m not a programmer so I’m not sure how hard scripting and animating this would be but Im thinking that it would be somewhat easy since it’s for an AI vs making legs for cmdrs which would have to be operational and respond to input

•carriers aren’t out so there’s not much to go on but they are probably big enough to need a large crew to operate but at the same if they require a 100+ something crew hiring individually wouldn’t be practical so your squadron, when in the carrier, should be ability to hire all at once also having all those people around would be hard to run so no convos or moving for crew on carriers

NPC Crew has really been desired for a long time now. I really wish for something like that, even if it is just a few Avatars in the ship, looking busy...
