[Crime and Punishment] Why ATR ships will be useless?

I'd love it if ATR became a persistent NPC that followed you as you jumped about. So, if you high wake, the ATR would wake scan and follow, popping up in a cat and mouse game of wits. Imagine if you were docked, and an ATR ship was docked with you.....you undock and so does the ATR...

They would become a nemesis in essence, like a snakes tail chasing you all over and not disparaging until you die.

Or at least stop at the end of their jurisdiction (fleeing to Anarchy).

The thing about the ATR is, can they go more than 700 m/s? Cause I can, with weapons too. I'm honestly not worried about them, because I'm fairly certain they'll never be able to touch me. I actually cringe a little when devs assume the ATR will really be a force to be reckoned with, I think they'll be in for a shock when a wing of 4 cmdrs basically rip them to shreds. I remember that short time after engineers dropped, NPC's were engineered and actually pretty lethal, but soon got nerfed again cause so many people were whining about how difficult they were all of the sudden. Even then, with an engineered ship, I was still flying circles around elite NPC's. I feel like FD doesn't have a solid grasp on how good some cmdrs are after years of playing.

You know devs have all information about your ships right? You know that devs have run endless tests to see who would come out winning right? It is their game, they can make them as powerful as they can.

Will you come out and admit you are wrong if you will get your backside handed to you after 3.0 beta?

Also your friends will be always there when ATR strikes?

police vessels would not need to if they make a good expansive law enforcement system and stop focusing on blowing you up.

- They tell you to stop
- You step on the gas
- Ignoring command to stop, resisting arrest and speeding
- Log ship info and put a bounty on CMDR to be paid on next station stop within that jurisdiction
- Crossing FED/EMP/ALL lines add an Interpol style arrest order on the CMDR

Not to mention that breaking the law in a jurisdiction could block us from landing on stations, outposts, high security systems and the like.

If Frontier REALLY want to put on the thumb screws against lawbreakers do not think your puny engineered modules would help you in any way.

They could not stop Capone so they attacked his wallet and that worked.

Of course FDev can do whatever they want, its their game and they are in control. However I think what you are suggesting goes against the current game design a little too aggressively. Right now we can get into stations if we avoid the patrols and the new C&P system allows for anonymous login when wanted. I suspect they want to preserve this game play element.

I can't see FDev wanting to ban docking altogether or they would've done it already.

Personally I think simply having the ATR follow a criminals wake (low or high) and continually interdicting them until they are either killed or enter Anarchy space would be sufficient to achieve their aim. Plus it makes for an interesting game play element for the criminal.

Gankers/Griefers get less time to ply their trade since they are busy avoiding the fuzz and genuine criminals (aka not mass murderers for kicks) get an excellent new game play mechanic to play against.

I am super grinning! :D ATR ships are all super-engineered, all piloted by Elite pilots with everything dialled to max, plus with some extra bits of AI logic thrown in for good measure! They have some pretty awesome weaponry, so don't expect those engineered shields to last long against these beasties! ;) If you fight against these, you WILL be taking damage, so it becomes a question of how much you're prepared to spend on repairs... And if by some miracle you manage to destroy one, expect more and more to come...

YESSSSSS!

Turns out ATR isn't super well piloted or anything.

Just a case of obvious NPC cheating with god mode guns.

Luckily they show up after the kill so it's fine

Can you make it so that NPC Bounty Hunters fly these ships too? Then we can enjoy the challenge in a 1v1 fight :)
