Crime Stats In Codex

o7 Commanders.

A quick question please regarding legal missions against criminal groups occupying settlements.

I’ve noticed that when killing these NPC’s who are part of the criminal group and who have a bounty on them, I don’t get a bounty myself or any notoriety. However, my Crime stats in the Codex show a murder and a murder of a guard. Is this just how it is?

I’m viewing this as a mere case of the stats system logging a kill, whether legal or illegal, as a generic murder. I’m still feeling like I’m doing something wrong however with the kill being logged in the crime tab. The fact that I get no bounty nor any notoriety seems to be the only indicator given that you aren’t doing anything wrong. It just seems like an oversimplified accounting of kills, as legal kills are not distinguished from illegal ones and happen to be logged under the crime tab, not say a separate tab for ‘legal kills’ or ‘non-criminal combat kills’.

Any thoughts on this?

Best wishes.

The crime and punishment system has been screwed up for a very long time. As such, it fits the game perfectly :)

It's not worth worrying about unless it directly impacts your gameplay.

Roger Commander. I love this game - but it really messes with my OCD’s.

Thanks for the reply!
Mine too. The endless number of goals I can set in this game help me get past it.

I've spent the last 5-6 months painstakingly preparing for my return trip to Colonia. I've been "almost ready" for about a month now :)
It really helps to keep my OCD zeroed in on the big goal. The little things don't seem to matter as much then. I'm too busy with all the little goals (steps to the big goal) to worry about UI stuff, bugs, etc.

Technically it's not a legal kill. It's just not an illegal mission. The game is recommending you do the thing many tubers do: attack an anarchy faction.

The settlements you are sent to for these missions are legitimately held by an anarchy faction via the BGS. It's not, as implied by the mission type, a settlement held by the issuing faction via the BGS and somehow occupied by pirates.

I fell for it too. Ruined my nice non-murderhobo stats. I also think the Defend missions increase your murder stats - this I think is actually a bug though.

Makes perfect sense! Thank you. Ah… that kinda sucks.

If you shoot a guy who doesn't have a bounty, it's still murder.
You just don't get a bounty yourself if you're in a lawless jurisdiction (such as an anarchy settlement)

he would certainly be branded a lunatic ;)
the place may have been renamed the sea of hostility
and the grave may read go tell the cmdr's passer by that here by the absence of law Armstrong lies
