It's FTL on a larger scale. You are the cloned captain of a dead empire and now needs to find out what happened to it.
Unlike FTL there is far less crew and interior management but more hex grid tactical battles with a small fleet of fighters, drones and frigates while your battleship pounds the enemy ship to scrap.
You have three crew stations: Hull, Squadron and Weapons where you place your bridge crew to give the ships bonuses. Your crew also have secondary abilities that helps in away missions and encounters (like talking to a pirate and convince them to give up their hostages, or send a few asteroids into an enemy ship).
I highly recommend it.

I'm still looking for a game that is just like FTL, but more. Tough luck since apparently FTL2 isn't happening.
