CTD when changing suits (managing loadouts) and other places

Eyes on this o7
Where the hell were the "eyes on this" BEFORE release???

So far this update has resulted in CTD when
  • accessing middle panel
  • changing suits
  • managing suits
  • entering conflict zones
  • launching SLF
  • engineering weapons
And yet not one of the coders or the mythical QA department spotted any of these prior to release. Is that seriously what you are trying to tell us?? Speaking of not spotting anything, can anyone point me in the direction of some notes explaining what this update is actually for? Apart from rendering the game totally unplayable.

Errr I just crashed going to Pioneer Supplies in an orbital station. Yeh. I think I will try playing again sometime later. I blame all the console commanders who have transferred over (me included). ;)

I was looking forward to finally getting my teeth into Odyssey. :D

Crashing upon dropping from Frontline dropship and every attempt to load back into the game instantly crashes because it spawns me next to the settlement again. Been able to do that conflict zone without any problem yesterday, so like others here I suspect the small 60MB patch I got this morning through Steam having something to do with it. The only way for me to get back in the game is starting Horizons once to take me to a station and then restart into Odyssey again. On another account I have empty missions boards. At least at ground based stations and settlements. Haven't checked starports yet.

I'm having the same instant CTD when opening the loadout screen - it happens in my ship and at a terminal on my FC. I was the only one in a group of four that experienced this issue, but it has happened 100% of the time (crash report submitted every time).
I couldn't get a specific breakdown of the differences in out loadouts, but I was the only one with fully G5 upgraded gear and some engineering mods installed, so varonica may have a good point..

Righty right! I'm shortly going to open a locked acknowledgement thread and will be there to update as I can. Can we use this thread to keep discussion please (in line with my thread in a bit?).
Big thanks, Commanders o7
Okey dokey!

Here's hoping it's a simple fix.

Upvoted on the tracker.

But can I have my culinary recipes back, please? :D

Absolutely understand your frustration but the tone won't allow me to go much faster than I'm already trying to help you out with this right now, I'm afraid.
Doing my best.

I think Fdev must have been listening to the last Lave Radio episode and were disgusted about all the talk of certain parts of anatomy. why else when you look down at the crotch panel, the game crashes!

We blame you @EidLeWeise !

My “crotch” menu seems to be working fine for now (fingers crossed) but I can confirm the crashing problem with ground combat zones.

First crash came as the Frontline Solutions dropship bay doors opened and I was about to be dropped down. Logging back in I was on the planet, next to the settlement and I could look around for about two to three seconds before the client crashed again. Retried that three times with the same result.

Then I did the usual verify game files, regenerate shader cache shenanigans and tried again with the same result. After logging into Horizons to get back to the station and then logging back into Odyssey, I flew to a nearby system at war, docked at a station there and took another Frontline dropship to a settlement conflict zone.

This time I successfully dropped in and managed to shoot a few enemies before the client crashed again. It lasted maybe half a minute. Upon relogging I was again getting a crash every time after being able to look around the surface for two or three seconds.

I cannot remember the name of the first system I encountered the crashes but the second one is Marrallang, at a Settlement on A2 called Uutoni Horticultural Garden.

My guess is the crash comes from NPCs spawning with certain equipment? That one time I managed to play for a short time I bet the crash came with the first wave of enemy reinforcements spawning in.

By the way, is it normal the *MiniDump.dmp files generated by the crash reporting tool never get cleaned up? I just found half a gigabyte of crash reports sitting in my \Local\Temp\Frontier Developments\EliteDangerous\CrashDumps\ folder, spanning a couple years.

I got a CTD in supercruise. No panel activity, just flying past a T Tauri star, alt-tab out for a few seconds, alt-tab back in and CTD

Most likely something in today's patch is causing this. I wonder if a simple rollback to the previous version or whatever would fix things...

Don't worry - Sally is on the case. (No pressure :) )
