Current CG vs What we really need …

AX MC Turrets are awesome. I've got a T10 with those and it tears through Scouts like a hot knife through butter. Perfect to clear the path for those Gauss Kraits when they go for the interceptors in a CZ
I also hope that the "enhanced" MCs will actually be of use vs higher tier interceptors, since guardian weapons don't work inside the maelstrom and we need SOMETHING to fight the Thargoid on their turf as well

Also, don't underestimate the Turreted Ax Mc. They work more than you think.

It is true that they are ineffective compared to other Ax Weapons. But they really melt the scouts. For someone bad at fixed guns like me, it's the best solution for now. Even if gimballed Ax weapons come, I think these turreted Ax weapons will also be used.
Oh, I use ‘em - got two on my FAS combined with a couple of (fixed ) Plasma Chargers. Just don’t understand why we need more turreted MCs …

For me, by far the biggest pain/risk is hull damage and specifically from caustic missiles and the clouds left behind when dog-fighting with the Scouts. So, for me, that would be where I would want our engineers focusing efforts.

I mean, let’s get real … we have AX weapon options by the boatload. Sure, some are better than others but there are LOADS of options.

Defense? Nothing. No specialist Thargoid defences … just “hull, hull and more hull” … and, I guess, the shutdown field neutraliser if we’re being generous.

The first thing we need is a long range xeno scanner, otherwise all AX weapons are next to useless, only hitscan weapons are viable then.
True … I mean, we’ve seen enough of them now you’d think the “standard” sensors could be programmed to recognise the various “bits” now!

Sure … there’s tons of stuff we could wish for …

I was simply trying to propose a simple thing to add (from a gameplay / code perspective) that would make absolute sense (from a “real world perspective”) to be something humanity would focus on.

Y’know, the ‘goids just turned large swathes of the galaxy into corrosive clouds that we can’t safely venture into … do we (a) build a better version of a multi cannon we already have or (b) use some of the knowledge we’ve gleaned over years of researching (including building a corrosion resistant cargo rack …) to stop our ships melting when we try to engage them. 🤷‍♂️

Don’t get me wrong - I’m sure we’ll need both better offence and defence in the long run, Inwas just very surprised by the initial focus.

I'd be game for a sensor package that could see their health and names and such, but not one that can target the hearts without a scan. That should remain in the domain of the xeno scanner.

That said, a xeno scanner that can fast scan would be nice. Getting inside 500m is important, because it's risky and challenging, but staying there isn't particularly necessary. Even cutting it down to, say, 5 seconds would be a big improvement.

I am not bothered about the weapons being offered, as I am unlikely to use them. However, I loaded up a carrier with 7000+ tons and headed off to contribute as a trader to the war effort. A couple friends joined me and each delivered a couple of thousand tons from my carrier. All good.

Running the last 700 tons using my iClipper. My iCutter kept getting interdicted by NPCs.

But still, with the Malestroms now in place, caustic resistance seems like the single most important thing someone should be working on!
There's clearly something already in the Maelstrom - FD will deliver us the means to get in there when the storyline demands it. This isn't a criticism, by the way, I think this is a great setup they've created. They can watch player numbers and social media and determine when the best time is to drop new stuff and move the story along.

drop the 4 AX weapon limit, this would make the T10 a real threat to interceptors, since there's no way in hell it's outrunning them.
