Heaven forbid that the link on the launcher would take you to anything useful - still v2.4 - disgusting.

(Some things about this game make me want to scream "SORT THIS" in the Braben's face. )

being a bit out of date is hardly 'disgusting'. Slack or lazy yes, but not disgusting. And much SOME of the info in there is still useful, so there's that.

Fixed that for you. ;)

Seriously though, I do find it disgusting - the game is hard enough to learn for new players, failing to update the "live manual" since the 2.4 release is an abject failure by the team at F D to consider their user-base. Now 3.4 comes in with completely reworked interfaces (to use just that one glaring example) and the launcher links to the 2.4 manual still - no attempt to cater for the new player here at all. At least remove the launcher link but why not embed the in-game manual pages on their website and link to that on the launcher - then people can use the manual without either running the game or indeed whilst the game is running they can view it on another device as they explore the features.

I know that engineering projects are not exactly comparable but if I had had one of our contractors fail to keep their technical authors producing in-date information I would have been screaming for recompense. I admit it is a bugbear for me but I can't understand why anyone would produce a product without keeping manuals up to date and it actually annoys me that people don't seem that bothered by it.

Try engineering from the 2.4 manual off the launcher:

Yeah, there is a lack of care in many aspects of how fdev behave - the manual is part of that.

Try engineering from the manual:
Ironically I then checked the (in-game) Pilot's Handbook - and can't even see Engineering mentioned. There is, of course, the in-game Engineering Help

Which is not sufficient, and looks like it was never updated for Remote Engineering etc.

Well it is a whole version number behind and a nearly two years since last updated both of which make it more than a bit out of date. So I see Para’s point and pretty much agree, though I might have settled for embarrassing.

They would have been far better off to drop the link from the launcher at the last update if they weren’t going to have a copy of the new handbook for offline perusal.

Thanks for the info, however I really wanted a pdf document, so I could print to paper.
Mind I suppose I can just take pics of the screen with my smartphone...……………… saves tree's:p
