Currently keep disembarking SRV to black screen?

Anyone else having an issue when disembarking planet side from the SRV and the screen remains black (I've tried leaving it for 5 mins).
I have to exit to the main menu then continue again, but when I do that I loose my SRV from the planet surface, at least its in my ship when I recall it, annoying though.
Especially when trying to do a number of bio scans!!

1 out of 10 attempts, yes. "It happens" it seems. I guess we just have to live with it until we get some patches in the new year Jan/Feb somewhere.

Seen it. Wish there was way this could get fixed (lol), along with the dozens of other minor issues that would fail the beauty contest that is the ticketing system.

Had it once due to flaky connection that day, once also when leaving the ship on foot, but they are rare enough me for that it's a nothing burger, my main issues happen when using the FSS.

I've had this issue 3 times. I ended up switching ships from an ASP to an eagle and just used my carrier to get around. I switched to an eagle as I can spot everything while flying, swoop down, exit, scan, fly off and do it again. Since the eagle is smaller, I can land in almost any spot easily. I also bypass the animation of getting out with an SRV + the occasional black screen.

I have had this issue so many times that I lost count long ago. I get it typically once or twice in an exobiology work session.

I had been plagued with this problem every single time I played. Not in occupied space but only when exploring for exobiology. As it turns out I was upgrading my PC so I was able to do some testing....

1) Graphics Card
Upgraded my graphics card from a GTX something or other to a RTX 3060, no change.
2) Processor
Upgraded from a Ryzen 5 to Ryzen 9, no change.
3) Memory
Added 16GB RAM, no change.
4) Drive
Upgraded to 1 TB m.2 drive, no change.
5) Bandwidth
Upgraded from 100mbps to 500mbps, bingo. The problem happens far far less frequently.

The problem still happens but rarely now. All this said, the REAL problem is... and this is the important part... the SRV goes away and is stowed back in the ship. Hey, when the game locks up, please have my current game state preserved when I come back.. please!

Frontier, if you cannot fix the black screen of death problem, at least preserve the fact that the SRV is deployed. Thank you!

EDIT Please understand that I am not saying the key is to increase your bandwidth. Every home office situation is different and I did no testing by varying connection speed, quality, or anything like that. My unscientific testing does provide a clue though that the problem might be related to the quality of connection. Again, the real issue is when something goes wrong, the SRV should not be stowed back on the landed ship.

This is killing me.

Currently doing raw grinding... (sounds a bit naughty) at the brain trees. Shooting these damn things with the srv gets them stuck TO the trees about 70% of the time. That's a WHOLE other bug that needs fixing. Rarely used to happen back in the day prior to Odyssey with clusters etc.

Once they're stuck to the trees I have to get out of the SRV and jump up at them to knock 'em to the ground. So stupid and super crap gameplay. I'm constantly getting in and out of the SRV. And now this? This black screen of death has happened 4x in the last two sessions. So about 4x in as many hours.

I freaked the first time. I'm like where's my SRV? annnd I don't even know the UI for Odyssey and have no way to call my ship. It's such a pain.

I have it from time to time and when i respawn i am on a planet with no SRV.. usually no biggie, however i have had 1 squeeky bum where i was on a planet with a hostile surface temperature and the ship landed miles away when i called it.

I just made it back in time so no harm done, but defintely could end up in commander death.... again, would not be a huge issue for me i guess as i think you respawn in your ship with no loss..... but for those who like to play iron man and insist on having a zero next to deaths on their stats it could be awful

I must say, that while it must be aggravating to players when this issue occurs, I'v honestly not experienced this issue at all.
I'm in the black Exploring the Outer Spur Region, landing on Planets that flag up Bio's to scan on Planets.
Only a couple of times have I noted a slightly longer time when leaving my SRV & being aware of the issue, wondered if it was gonna black screen me, but managed to exit & enter every time to date........& I'm playing on my Omen laptop, i7 with RTX2060 graphics card, though I do limit my framerate to 60fps & game plays nicely.

Happened to me a few times recently.

Do you have an issue tracker bug logged so I can contribute?

Same here, at the moment I am in anew region and constantly in and out of the ship and SRV to get codex data, don't experience this at all.

What is your frame rate limit? By reading this thread I'm getting the impression that frame rate is a factor in this issue. My frame rate limit is 144 FPS and I get this black screen quite often.

I used to have this problem quite a bit, but it has gotten less as Ody has gotten updates...or at least it seems that way...

It happens occasionally to me too, yesterday I think it happened twice. In my case while getting out of my courier to scan bio on foot. I think it's probably in some way network related as the problem seems to come and go all by itself..
