Custom keybindings wiped

Sooooooo....

After updating i've logged in eager to check out goodies in this patch and i was stopped right away. My keybindings don't work. After quick inspection custom bindings are gone and generic x-52 profile is applied.
At this point i was slightly irritated. I've had bindings backed-up so i thought to myself that it's only small incovinience. I've renamed backup to Custom.3.0.binds and fired up game. Nothing, it even didn't show up.
All right, deep breath. I've forced new custom bind profile by rebinding something in default profile and copied contents of backup to new file, except for first 2 lines.
Started game. Again nothing.

So my question is, what the hell are devs even thinking to relase patch with bugs that prevent players from playing. Sure, i could start new custom profile from a scratch but it's like 100 functions to assign. Not to mention axes sensitivity and deadzones. And to be honest i CBA to do it for like 3rd time. Because devs are so incompetent that they must break controls every few patches.

So yeah, another sucesfull patch by FDev :slowclap:

Anyone have any idea how to fix it?

I noticed a problem with my Thrustmaster HOTAS, throttle doesn't automatically throttle back when entering a new system. A real problem when I'm flying the T9. I have to put the throttle in reverse to avoid a collison with star, not good.

I get that but the fact is this is a modern game, not the old days. If any update wipes a players keybinding setup then there's a problem with the game itself and it needs major fixing.

No doubt, but until that fateful day comes, we must stand vigil against those who would callously and wantonly deprive us of our precious game settings.

I have backup. But in game control settings menu not opens. I delete all custom binds but nothing changes. Can't play.

Thats how it was in the BETA. I assumed it was intentional. Maybe to stop you throttling back on 4..3..2...1 and going to make a cuppa.

Um, TURN?

Never had that problem. I just TURN in my T9, T10, Cutter, etc...

This was actually not working correctly (From todays patch notes):

  • Fixed throttle automatically setting to zero when exiting a hyperspace jump

Same here. Quite irritating. Hope it's fixed soon.

My experience is I enter hyperspace, pull my hotas throttle to zero, arrive in the new system, the ship hesitates, ignores the throttle's position and starts accelerating for the star, I vaguely panic, push the throttle forward from zero, then back to zero, and the ship finally registers the position of the throttle and slows to a 'halt'.

100 Functions you say - I say 100,000!

They really need to have people who have an actual clue testing this stuff, because who or what ever is play testing ED doesn't know anything about this game whatsoever.

That's not good, sadly.

I had a problem with my bindings being out of date - I'd swapped a couple of things last week but the Custom 3.0 bind that loaded today didn't include those changes.

I've renamed my saved bind to 3.0 and that seems to work fine.

If you use the XB or PS Thrustmaster part of the patch notes was making their labels match the HOTAS. They also added more functions into the controls. I'm guessing that is why you can not use your previous settings.

I just watched the HCS Voice Attack setup video and fixed all my controls.

I only stop on entering a system with a Neutron star or black hole - otherwise just leave the throttle full on and do some fuel scooping. You can still safely locate stations etc. while moving away from the star

Most people only realize the value of viable backups after situations like this occur. Then they face a choice. Start taking responsibility for your files and back stuff up -or- do nothing, complain and blame others.

In this case I don't think backups are any use (unless the file can be read using notepad to remind you of the bindings you used?) You can't just swap the old bindings file back in as too much has changed.

To a point, and in general, I agree with you. However..

This is not a new issue here. Given the complexity which can go into mapping controls, especially for us VR users, redoing everything is time consuming to say the least. And absolutely irritating. Even if the Custom key bind filename changes between patches, how flippin' hard can it be to include what seems to me a very simple quality of life tweak to the client patcher?!?

Just strikes me as lazy.

So after almost 2 hours of fiddling with this i managed solve it. Apart from X52 i also have xbox pad bound for srv driving. Whe i've turned it on before launching game it magically reverted all of my bindings :x
