Custom setups for T.Flight Hotas X and Xbox 360 (Reference sheets)

//Edit: 20.12.2015 - Update for v2.01

New update with SRV controll scheme. This is first release and looks for me like good and ergonomic, but I need more time for tests.
I split printable reference card for Ship and SRV for better understanding, but I tried make control the same.
SRV steering control is doubled on stick and throttle, because this allow control your SRV during Turret mode which you can control with mouse.

Enjoy

Short story about ...

Hi Commanders,

I made for myself an advanced complete bind setups for controllers, that I use for playing Elite: Dangerous.

My setups are for ...
1. Thrustmaster T.Flight HOTAS X
2. Microsoft XBOX 360 Controller
3. Keyboard and Mouse (5 buttons)

Why I made more than one setup?
Reason is very simple. Not every time I need to put my Joystick on the desk, especially when I go trade or explore only.

After a lot of changes and tests I want to share with you my (probably) final version.

What do I need and expect from a good setup?
My goals were to make complete, logical, ergonomical and comfortable setups.
I want to be able to use one controller for all possible ship functions, without thinking too long about what button does what.
I want to minimize accidents from unwanted key usage (with modifiers), especially during combats.
I want to have printable reference sheet, where I find all information about mapping.
I want to - after a longer game trip - put my legs on sofa and fly with only one hand on controller and the second hand on keyboard to make comfort for me (relax possition :)).
I want to be able to control ED after landing on station from keyboard too, without any compromise (still near to default control settings).

I did it all :).
But remember, there is not only a one way to make a good bind setup. Everything is about your expectations and wishes.
Anyway, You must always learn basic controller mapping and after few game hours you can make your own changes, if they are necessary.

How can you find logic in my setups?
There are some examples for Thrustmaster T.Flight HOTAS X.
Example 1: Landing gear you retract with same button like for vertical thrust, which you use for take off from landing pad. Simply push used "Shift 1" button and fly.
Example 2: You jump to SuperCruise with the same "Shift 1" + key like for boost Engine ... Of course, to HyperSpace you jump with same button too, but with "Shift 2".
Easy like cake ;).
Example 3: Primary fire is on "Joy 1" button, "Shift 1+Joy 1" is button for Chaffs (Combat situation) and "Shift 2+Joy 1" Retract your Hardpoints (Non Combat situation).

Look at Reference sheets. Pictures makes better job than 1000 words ;).

Credits Note:
I want to say thank you to all commanders, who made their own setups like Technome, Bluekieran or Smacker, and inspired me.
I want to highlight very interesting keyboard setup from Ben Ryder, who focused on keyboard-only players.
Do not miss new Keyboard and HOTAS Reference Sheet Generator from CMDR jgm.

Thanks Crab, I am using both your controller versions & your hotas versions (use controller for trading shuttle runs).

Saved me countless hours, many thanks for your work :)

I've been using your xbox controller mapping since I bought this game, and plan on using your hotas X when I get it this christmas... I can't thank you enough.

FYI:
Updated setup will be available soon after Horizons release. I have ED: Horizons preordered, but without beta. ;)

Can you give me some insight on how to set this up.

File is installed and applied to settings
Hotas X set to pc mode.

I see you have buttons that have 3 separate colours and actions, how do i access the other actions?

only played a few training missions only had ED and Hotas less than a day.

Thanks Crab this is going to help but I seem to be having a small issue, I have loaded your binds file as per instructions and selected the profile in the game controller options but when I launch the game everything works except the joystick actions i.e up/down, left/right and yaw. All buttons are as mapped and the thrust section works fine. Any ideas? There is also a plain thrustmaster hotas controller option and when selected all works as per that profile so I know the joystick works, I must just be missing something. Any help would be great.

Good to hear your getting ED Horizons too. Just got back my T.Flight HOTAS X but had a little trouble reinstalling it. Forgot about the PC/PS3 switch at the back DUH!

I've done everything per Crab's instructions and I'm still having some buttons not mapped correctly such as landing gear is not mapped at all, 2 is set up for main fire(?), thrusters don't work on the rocker on the throttle, Thrust up and down aren't mapped at all... there's just a lot of issues. Any one have an idea what might be wrong? Did the profile not load correctly or something?
EDIT: Nevermind -_- 7zip unpacked the files in a folder in the bindings folder. Just moved the files into the root bindings folder and everything is working. Sorry!

Merry Christmas everyone!

Hi Guys,

I downloaded Mr. Crabs file for the T-flight and printed it out with this Tool:

http://www.mcdee.net/elite/

And see he had no problem making the lights for the Ship the same command as lights for the SRV. Same with Flight assist. I just can't make them stay!

Driving me Nuts!.. Oh dear ED programmers.. Please fix this!

Thanks Crab, love the mappings!!

One thing.. Can you safe disengage from SC using these HOTAS bindings ?? I've been trying a few ways but I can't seem to find it and I normally have the keyboard set to one side while flying
