I thought that was too easy... oh well... here we go...
Oh yeah. Of course: FD should just round up a bunch of celebrities for the voice acting and give it to us for free. Clearly they are animals for not doing this and dropping to the knees in front of the mighty customer.
Just because they are already flat out working on a backlog of stuff they promised,they should magic up some more resource to give away more free stuff, because it's would be an anathema for a company to actually keep people happy by enabling third parties to provide what they are too busy to provide themselves.
Failing that, then -as you say- the modding community should of course give you stuff for free, having paid for Brian Blessed out of their own pockets, in order to sate your morbidly obese sense of entitlement.

Expecting a professional game company to provide adequate voice work is hardly a sense of entitlement. Get real. I don't expect them to "magic" anything up. I expect them to act like a professional company. Apparently not a standard some of you hold them to.
As for the modding community. Yes free. That's the core of modding community spirit. Kind of why we do it...Many more talented modders than the likes of these people have spent money out of their own pockets. And props to them for that drive to do so. But it doesn't excuse turning modding into a cash grab. Rationalize it all you want but that is what is happening here.

As for hiring voice actors.. really?
I'd wager if a script were posted with instructions to "Read the following aloud and submit your recordings in the specified format to..."
1. 1/3 of the people would fail to follow any of the instructions.
2. 1/3 of the people would fail to follow some part of the instructions.
3. 1/3 would get it right and do what they were supposed to do.
And we could literally have thousands of voices available for implementation overnight, for little more return than having one's voice integrated into the game.
I'd volunteer my own so we can have more voices, and not just traffic control voices - but ship transmission voices as well.
It would make life so much better to hear "I've come a long way for what's in your hold." than just reading that tired line 1000 times.
