Customizeable time passage

Time in the beta moved way too fast for me, and i'd really like the ability to choose how fast time passes ingame.

For example, i'd really like for the ability to make it so 1 hour = 1 year, or any other configuration.

This way I could get muc hmore attached to the animals, and the time passage would feel a bit more realistic (e.g. the elephant wouldn't have to spend an entire month eating, and the zookeepers wouldn't take 3 weeks to go from the food facility to the exhibit 100m away.

This would also make events like births, anmimal growing up, and the inspector arriving more special and we could give such events more attention.

Another thing this would allow is for animals to live longer, so you wouldn't spend so much time replacing old and dead mates and finding new animals.

I used to be a zookeeper, and so I really really want to be able to connect to the animals in the game, as it reminds me of the animals I used to take care of daily. Back then every birth was a huge celebration, and every death was really sad because you had to say goodbye to an animal you cared for. Of course I don't expect (and don't think it would be healthy) to have such attachment to game animals, but I'd like to feel that their existence has more meaning than being breeding machines that have to be worked fast before they die.

I've seen this dicussed in other places already, but I haven;t seen a discussion here about this topic, and I think many peopl want this.

I totally agree that time passes too quick and you have a novel and original take on the idea to fix this.

I think in sandbox, time should pass as slowly or as fast as you'd like. That would solve that side of things.

However when we get talking about franchise mode where everyone is connected to each other through the market it gets a little bit more difficult.
We need a hard cap on how fast time passes here because otherwise we would have people playing on one zoo and then super breeding on another and monopolising the market with how fast they're willing to pump out babies whilst the rest of us just want to relax and enjoy the game with the limited time we have. Community challenges will also be messed up for the exact same reason, even though completing them is a good thing, it should still be considered a challenge and when one does crop up, it's nice to have that as an actual goal or theme to play with for the duration rather than it be completed before anyone playing a slower speed has a chance to get onboard.

Good points.

I think that the market will be fine and balance itself out, because faster time means that despite the fact that animal may breed faster, they also die faster, so you won't really be able to get (relatively) more animals this way.

Community challenges would be messed up however.

Any ideas on how to fix that and still make it enjoyable? because the fast time is an annoyance especcially in franchise mode 9at least in the beta) because animals breed way too slow compared to their lifespan making you lose CC pretty fast if you want to maintain populations of popular animals such as lions ort elephants.

My concern wasn't that people on a super fast mode in franchise would be keeping the animals, if they did I'd agree that it wouldn't affect the market.

It was that people on a super fast mode could take control of the market by breeding and then putting the animals up for unfair prices that other people simply can't compete with. Higher rating animals will simply become the norm and not something to aim for as a zoo owner since there would be so many on the market. Same for the animals with genetic mutations such as the albinism, melanistic etc, people on a super speed setting will be able to pump them out much more regularly than they should be and wouldn't be considered a rare thing.

I think the market wouldn't only be used by faster ones, even when there are still prizes which could be way too high for some of us from whoever (it's not like just faster ones could do that!), there will still be people to put animals in on fair/less expensive prizes like some people already did in Beta... maybe we need more luck, but that's the way with a market.

I wish we had adjustable Time, like for example in the sims, where you could adjust the life times of the people, but I guess it would only make sense in the game parts that are not franchise, since it would give an advantage or disadvantage to either side.

Just like Sirlacker, I expressed my concern with the market as well.
I'll be playing on a faster speed in Online Franchise, and faster players will influence a bigger part of the animals market than some/most of you.

I think it's more complicated to adjust speed without completely off-balancing the game.

This is probably why frontiers never respond to time-passage related topics :/
