Cut Content: Can Life Find A Way?

Disclaimer: This is not a wish list. Do NOT lock this because it has a list format.

While looking through some old footage of the game (pre-release), I remembered that there was an instance where a T-rex actually destroyed a ranger jeep.

Was there a reason for why this was removed from the game and is there a chance that it can make a comeback?
I mean, you get the option to acquire 3 rangers per station but, you also reach a point in the game where you'll probably never run out of money (the billions range) so why not make them expendable and require ACU to extract the wreckages?

There's also the curved fences in the background that would have been used to discourage certain dinosaurs from climbing over.
Is there a chance that more situation specific fences will come in the future?

Speaking of which, I'm kind of disappointed that the classic fences didn't make it into the final version of the game.

Before this turns into a long aimless tangent, I'm going to just list the things that didn't make it into the game in hopes that addressing them could give hope that they could some day see fruition:

• Less foliage saturation
• More diverse foliage options - Not just randomly generated temperate trees, palms, and ferns
• Rangers that leave their vehicles
• Possibly a technician class separate from rangers (the guy stuck in the wire)
• Rangers that could engage rampaging dinosaurs (either on-foot or in-vehicles)
• The classic wired electric fences with concrete foundations (instead of exclusively metal bar variants)
• Dinosaurs that didn't lock prey (dinosaurs/humans) into an animation when going in for the kill (the T-rex running while eating the ranger)
• Carnivores that didn't act like they were attacking other dinosaurs and instead made physical contact (no air biting)
• Dirt paths as an option either below cheap concrete or as a terrain type that could be applied with a brush tool (like in Planet Coaster)
• Path placements that didn't despawn foliage too close to it
• Lower tier paddock gates (hinged variants) that would have made the current in-game gates into an unlockable asset
• Aquatic pens (granted, the entire announcement trailer was pre-rendered)
• Parks accessible via docks
• Manual gates that could be left open through a compromise
• Dinosaurs traveling in semi-organized herds
• Blue ACU choppers
• The option to use lethal or non-lethal protocols

After reviewing this list, you'll probably realize that some (or maybe even most) of the observations have appear at some point in the 100+ wish list thread.
I wouldn't consider this as a wish list since these aspects of the game were initial teased in pre-release content (some of which is 'In-Game Footage').

Don't get me wrong. I still very much enjoy the game but, I hope that in addressing these lost assets and mechanics, I can help point Frontier's devs in the direction to making the game see its full potential.

If there's any details that I missed, feel free to post them below.
I would also love to here what the community thinks about this cut content and how they would like to see it reintroduced into the game.

I know I previously addressed the fact that players can easily achieve financial security in the billions range but, I feel like if some of these cut aspects of the game remained intact, there probably would be more things to actually spent money on but, that's just my thought on that particular matter.

There was no T-Rex destroying a jeep in any in game footage I saw. Just in the prerendered trailer that a lot of people keep bringing up.

I do like the looks of the in game trailer, the first one we got to see that shows in game footage. I liked the orange haze effect as well. You can also see what looks like herd movements. It seems like this version would have been an even better game than what we have now. I really like the game we have. But it just seems like this version would have been better. The alternative is a lot of stuff was cut and I don't really know why. It seems like they had a lot of stuff already functioning or partly functioning and then it got cut. Either cause they didn't have the time to make it all work 100% correctly or it wouldn't work on consoles. Maybe this version was the PC exclusive. People keep saying it was rushed. The game was development for nearly two years. I believe I heard one of the devs say 18 months, a year and half. This isn't like something they threw together in 7-8 months. Universal wasn't publishing it and they weren't funding it. It is a self published and funded game.

I believe Frontier will improve the game though. I would like to have some of the features we saw in this in game footage put back into the game post launch. While sleeping Dinosaurs would be a nice touch I think the herding is more important. Also you can see three Raptors chase a Triceratops in this clip. You can see obvious herding in this video as well. They don't all just run around all randomly. Now they do stick together in game. But they still don't move and exist in an actual herd.

Like I said I really like the game. I just wish we had some stuff from this game like the haze/fog. That orange haze looks so sweet.

This is a video from December 2017 showing in game footage and it looks like the Dinosaurs were herding or at least moving in groups. It's the first video from IGN.

Makes sense, a jeep costs 50K lol and you can easily earn 1mill per minute in this game, it was rushed and it shows as there are a lot of inconsistencies in it. Plus, the reveal trailer showed the T-rex killing/eating park staff and destroying a jeep so something is clearly off now having them be indestructible makes no sense.

Yeah those were the trailers that got me so excited for this game. The haze effect looks brilliant. Herding is something I would like to see implemented, in that video it does look they are moving together.

Well to be fair that wasn't in game footage.

You do understand that trailer is not in game right? It's a prerendered trailer, an advertisement for the game. It was made by another company. No game is exactly like their trailers so please stop whining about it already.

Same with me. I loved the haze/fog effect. I think the T-Rex in the trailers looked more like the JP Rex than the one we have now. Though I haven't see it yet myself. I took a break from the game and I just got Tacano unlocked a few days ago.

Yeah same here I've just got onto Tacano and only just hatched my first T-Rex. I haven't had the chance to have a proper look at it yet as I've been really busy!

tbh I don’t want another tedious task to do like hiring new rangers every 5 minutes because they keep getting eaten. On top of resupplying feeders and removing dead dinosaurs that would leave even less time for just enjoying the game.

Nothing fair about it, if you show something in-game footage or not, we expect to see something similar in the game.

Rex breaks out while you're trying to fix the power. It eats people. Chaos ensues. Looks fairly similar to me. I'm old enough to remember when trailers bore almost no reselmblance to final in-game experience. Tailers have always been about hype.

The animations of dinosaurs attacking the fence sure seem very similar.
Curious thing is that carnivores will circle and even attempt to attack the ranger jeeps, but ultimately nothing happens, go figure.

If the feeder resupplying wasn't a mechanic, I'd be all for killable rangers and them getting out of their jeeps. But in order for it to actually add anything to the game, it would have to have them tranqing the dinosaurs and then getting out of their jeeps to treat them (like the triceratops in the first movie) but with the current state of the constant feeder resupplying... it would just be infuriating.

The other thing to notice from the gameplay trailer (since that is the only one that actually shows things that haven't been included. I really don't put any stock into pre-rendered footage) is dinosaurs sleeping.
Give us day/night cycles and sleeping dinosaurs which then allows us to have nocturnal dinosaurs.

To be honest, I don't think I've ever had one instance where the dinosaurs cared whether the fence was electrified or not. The just bash themselves into them either way.
I also feel like the lack of the classic fences and utilities seen in the trailers was kind of a letdown because it had a lot of potential as a mid-tier form of security as opposed to just having cheap fences, reinforced, and straight-up concrete.
But now that I think about it, does the electrified addition even matter in-game?
They made a point to show the T-rex taking advantage of the fact that the fence was offline.

Velociraptor should climb the fence or something if the electricity went offline. And they just get sick and die if they was stuck inside an enclosure and with a comfort level at zero.

Besides reinforced steel electrified fences and concrete, concrete take slightly longer for dino's to bash through Electric fences current don't do squat to dissuade dino's from attacking them. They just keep going at it until they break through. I liked the fact that in JPOG when a dino attacked a fence they got a nice big shock and decided it was best to not attack the fences unless the power was out. The dino AI in JWE is extremely simple and in my opinion quite lazily done.

JWE is suppose to be a spiritual successor to JPOG but so far besides some assets that look similar it is in no shape or form spiritual. Only slightly in name with it being part of the the Jurassic name.

I think the game was probably rushed by the publishers because I remember hearing that the movie and the game were supposed to come out on the same date.

Bingo. Don't get me wrong, there's a lot of things the devs did wrong, especially the small map sizes, but a lot of stuff was rushed. Animations looking goofy as hell spring to mind there. Same for the borderline nonexistent dinosaur AI, where dinosaurs don't herd, barely acknowledge their surroundings and every carnivore acts like the Indominus Rex when it spots anything it can pick a fight with. Hopefully this stuff can get fixed in time.

Not to mention the lack of dinosaur spacial awareness.
