CV1 recommanded specs!

I think you're right. I think the quality increase we will see will be larger than just the small increase in resolution. I predict we will see a solid 100% increase in overall image quality. We will see be rez limited, and there will still be an SDE... but I bet GREATLY reduced. I'm still excited.

Yeah, you and me both. We hates the SDE, doesn't we, precious? I'm quite excited with the way things are going- even though I think I will have to put together an X99-based build to be in better shape for it. I'll hold off buying a new GPU until I absolutely need to, though, as I smell a "tock", possibly involving more cores and/or a die shrink in the offing, though.

I'm still open-minded about CV1 or Vive. It could go either way for me, assuming that ED gains support for OpenVR in a timely manner. It may well boil down to which launches first with decent support. Both options are looking good. It's an exciting time to be a space game nerd.

I'm not too worried about resolution. I tried out the HTC Vive, which has the same res, and it looked a lot better than the DK2. I've heard less space between pixels really helps with SDE. According to the engineer i was talking too, text is still a problem.

Resolution is a double edged sword. Higher may look better, but can be detrimental to performance. Do you want crisper looking judder?

Yes, SDE is seeing the gaps between the pixels- poor pixel fill. The screen in the DK2 is a relatively old display now, luckily, the current state of the art is a lot better. Both Valve and Oculus seem pretty bullish about their new panels.

(Regarding framerate and spatial resolution, don't get me started, it happened before and took ages before I ran out of steam :D)
