CV1 stops but desktop client continues

While playing, my CV1 goes black but I can still see what the oculus sees in the ED client on the desktop. The sensor is still working because I can move the oculus around and the view changes in the client. But, the keyboard and mouse are dead so I have to just kill the ED client. I had this problem repeatedly one night and then no problems for 2 nights. Tonight, the problem is back. Anyone else experiencing these types of oculus crashes?

During 2 of these crashes, the Oculus Home has reported that my firmware was out of date and I had to update but it says it doesn't know the current version of the firmware. I did the upgrade but the problem is still occurring tonight.

Thanks in advance.

Try disabling SLI - it doesn't seem to work in VR for ED.

I'm getting crashes in Arena only (CV1, i3770K, 16GB RAM, single 1080GTX), haven't been able to pin the cause either. I just get dropped to the Oculus Home room/fireplace with an error message and crash submission window for ED.

Yeah. I am getting this issue. And it's not consistent. Some times I can play for hours. Other times, a few minutes. Some suggested it's a power management issue with the USB hubs. So i turned that off in Windows. It didn't work. I went into Radeon driver to turn power efficiency off. That seamed to work. But my Rift screen has started quitting again. It worked for a few days and stopped again. Maybe it's an internet issue, being that Elite Dangerous is an online game. If your speeds slow, something kicks you long enough to get some errors. Or maybe Windows or some program tries to do an update and things get interrupted. Or it could be an issue with the display drivers triing to send info to the Rift and monitor. I'll try to turn all updates off and give internet priority to games. And I'll try turning my monitor off when using the Rift.
