Cycle 45 Shennanigans.

Uh so obviously there's a war on this week, and it's been heller fun:

Yesterday I spent some time with my lad getting him set up in game.
He's not combat rated yet, but uh - okay backstory:
about two months ago I got another account because reasons and I needed to get it set up and rolling pretty quick so I got the lad to have a bit of a go. He flew one tutorial, and then we got him out of Trevethick Dock and uh you know that tutorial where you have to fly around and collect canisters? Well we did that except out the back of Ackerman Market (whatever the one in Eravate)
but with Palladium. Took us a while and we dropped a couple but we got him into a Cobra and flew to my homeworld.

Weeks go by, and he's into Lego Marvel Superheroes and I play E D at night. But then this war breaks out between the Feds and The Alliance. So I spent a lot of time running Forts for Mahon on the weekend. They're kinda pricey, and I'm not a rich man. In fact I've got a thread somewhere here called "Monday is Fly Below Rebuy day". So anyway, I'm able to do that because a Clipper will soak up a lot of cash. I think I even had an A4 Interdictor on it. Sell that - twenty mil! Sweet. Pumped it all into Fast Tracking fortifications. By Sunday afternoon I was broke. (Also did a mass of yard work on the weekend) Now I was basically running around in my underpants. A big yellow Clipper with no shields and no weapons in open.

So I teach the lad how to do the Old Worlds - Altair rares run. And we do the loop once but it's pretty slow going. He's pretty good, but you remember what docking and landing and next waypoint Yadda Yadda when you're less than four hours in-game? I kept getting out of my sim pit to see what the hold up was and then catching a nacelle in the toast rack while he sails past me in his Cobra with the full OnionHead skin.

We made enough cash to do one more Fort run today, so I get him set up on the Mahon Teamspeak and we jump in game to finish the long leg of the Rares run, and getting him to do more of the wing control stuff and he gets pulled into my interdictions. Which are pretty scary but they're NPCs so we boost and run and he did pretty good there but he's getting a but jumpy now. So instead of just docking and waiting for him inside, I hang at the cattle-grid outside Solo Orbiter, waiting for him to drop in to my instance. Keeping an eye out. Being a good dad in my friendly big yellow mining truck.

Now, uh Solo Orbiter is in Altair.

Federation space.

And The Alliance is at war with the Feds this week.
(You can see where this is going, can't you)

So anyway he drops into my instance and there's this panniked chirping "Hollow Squares! Hollow Squares!"
"Are they blue?"
"Yeah but there's two!"
"It'll be ghosts or something"
"Two hollow squares! Two hollow squares!"
sigh. Get out of my sim pit walk over and have a look and sure enough there are two hollow squares, but they're blue so I'm about to tell him to relax and dock and one hollow square goes solid. I look up at the sixty inch plasma that is in the sim pit.

Rebuy screen:
"Your ship has been destroyed!"

And it's MONDAY!

I must have trespassed or something, because there's no "By CMDR Honourless D-Bag"
*sigh*

Back in the pit and get on the Mahon Teamspeak. "Uh guys, I'm looking at a rebuy screen"
"Do you have it?" Vectron sounds concerned.
"Yep"
"So no problem" (cheerful)

"Uh, it's MONDAY"
So I pick up the Magic 8 Ball that I keep on the right hand speaker for these occasions.
"Magic 8 Ball - May I rebuy the Clipper?"

and the icosahedron surfaces through the murk

but my new prescription glasses are fixed at 70cm and I need more magnification to read it. So I call the lad over and he's not a great reader like his sister and he struggles to get that it says:

"It is decidedly so."

phew!

Be really careful there. I fly for hudson and will kill you if I see you, but it is not my intention to send you back to a free sidey. In fact I may still be shooting at you alliance supporters next week too.

The Magic 8-Ball on the right hand speaker does not lie.
He is friends with Billy Bones on the left hand speaker.

So you be really careful there too.
War is a waste of resources.
As you may have to learn.

As I say - I'm flying in my underpants now:
Oh hey look at that, I still had some weapons.

Not expensive ones though.

But when I took the Clipper back to E rated - I had another Ten Million Cr spare for Forts.
So now I'm running around fortifying in open - No Shields No Weapons in a my T-6: "The Yellow Submarine"

Aaaand we're just about done fortifying.

So tonight I'll be winged up in the "Yellow PunchBuggy Too"

and golly gee but I'm booking two day's leave before the end of cycle, whatever am I going to do with my time?

You might even see the kid - but he doesn't use the Magic 8 Ball.

Fly safe or deadly as you prefer CMDR.
