My girlfriend opted for white Dragonborn Warlock.
She likes magic. A lot. Decided to continue running my human fighter myself. Can't go wrong with a pair of swords and a longbow.

I really need an RPG club near me, unfortunately there are none from what I can gather.

Try Roll20. You can play online easy.
5E is so uninspiring I don't even bother thinking about builds for it. Just play whatever on the day.
Or you can use something free like Maptool (also better).
- A cleric with a severe phobia of the undead
- A paladin who's afraid of the dark
- A stuttering wizard
- An epileptic catburglar
- A nearsighted elf archer
- A barbarian berserker who faints at the sight of blood
- A fire wizard with severe hydrophobia
- A halfling concubine who waxes her feet
I think that you can be very creative on this subject. There are a lot of skills, names, skins that you can use to create a new character. It depends on the way you want your character to be. I played this game last time very long time ago. I remember I was addicted to it. Our crew of friends was playing it every night till morning. One thing I remember is that you can use D&D Guide to inspire yourself. Maybe one day I will start playing it again, now I have to finish my bachelor's degree in law. I wish you success!
