Yeah, something seems off here - he left with almost no notice after 2.5 years at Frontier. He has no job to go to, so this wasn't resigning to advance his career. Indeed, he talks in his tweet about going maybe to something entirely different. Frontier most likely has a "no compete" clause in it contracts as well, which means he cannot work for another software house in the games industry easily.
TL;DR: it's confidential matter (as is the case with all topics related to employment and contracts) and is not related to the game, so please don't discuss it. It actually pertains to my personal and private life, so please can we keep it that way? Speculation leads to tinfoil hats and blows way out of proportion. Finally, it's my personal life, man... I'd appreciate
some privacy unless I specifically share information. :|
There's no reason for any other employees to comment, honestly. I simply commented here to show my gratitude to everyone who'd left me a message.
Messages from colleagues and friends should (and have) been sent
privately because that's where they belong... not on a public forum thread. Someone leaving a company isn't really big news, but the details are always - and should always remain - confidential as with any job in any industry.
Don't worry, there's nothing "off" about it. My lack of something to move onto is really my own decision because I've yet to work out what I
want to do in the long-term. Until I find that, I'm not committing to anything. I've been in this business for over 7 years and have goals beyond my working life... many goals, some aren't even tech-related. I'm still relatively young (32 is the new 21, right?) so I want to try new things, travel a bit, visit family and friends abroad that I've not seen for 5-10+ years, and take some time for myself before I get back to the ol' 9-5.
I have a number of prospects both inside and outside of the industry. If one should facilitates my
need to travel and is in line with where I want to go long-term, then that would be great. Othewise, I'll take it a day at a time.
Anyway, that's about as much info as I'm going to share. Respectfully, my private life is exactly that and unless I share something I'd appreciate it if you can all keep it that way.

I think that's a very reasonable request, don't you?
