Data Link Scanner always out of range? Can't complete mission

I have a Youtube Video processing that i might add later, right now i need to hack a terminal to find a bounty, i'm at the location but when i lock onto the Comes or Operations terminal the Data Link Scanner switches into "Out of Range" and sticks with that, no matter what angle, how close of far i am its perpetually "Out of Range"

This feels like a bug?

How close are you? In a ship you need to be very close - unless you are in a tiny ship like an Eagle.

pics!
Ship is FDL, i tried from just under 3KM and right up against the terminal, been trying for about 30 minutes already, defence turrets have respawned 3 or 4 times now.

Didn't watch it all, but most of the time the data point is showing as Inactive - you need to get close to make it active. You are a long way away I think.

There's a couple mission types that will only let you interact with data points or destroy the power generator from the SRV. Quite annoying. Planetary scans that require you to "find" the outpost usually require an SRV to approach the data terminal. Missions to disable the "power grid", not to destroy the "power generator", will only allow SRVs to damage the generator or interact with the data terminals. Did some of these the other night and you definitely have to be in your SRV. Grinded my nose on the generator dumping rockets, nothing. Grinded nose on terminals, no interaction. Get out in the SRV, everything works.

Typical FD poor implementation. They wanted us to use our SRV but instead of introducing SRV specific content, they just copy paste existing content we interact with from our ship, except with the copy-pastas we magically can't. 😑👍

This is why my mission running ships always have an SRV, incase I encounter extra immersion and fun. Though I will say that perhaps you weren't close enough (<100m) as the terminals in missions I'm speaking of say nothing from your ship.

That's good info, i might get an SRV for the FDL, didn't think i would need it for FDL but it would probably make life easier.

Normally up to 100m or sometimes 200m.

Ground settlements though are designed for SRV gameplay. You just need to land 3km away or destroy all the turrets first (or kill the power generator) to keep your ship safe.
