News David Braben Guest Blog - on Xbox One and CQC

https://community.elitedangerous.com/node/202

Hey everyone,

Please check out the above link. I hope it answers some of the questions you guys might have about Xbox One and what it means for PC and Mac going ahead.

The community team is working hard at E3 today, at fanfests and on the show floor, so please be patient if we can't respond to all of your queries.

This is really exciting for us, and will bring so many new CMDRs to the game. The Xbox One version of the game will only improve what the PC players already have!

Thanks guys,

Enjoy E3!

CQC sounds interesting, will be good to see how it fits into/alongside the existing ED game. A tightly packed free for all could be a lot of fun.

Hold on, am I reading this correctly. You are giving first access of this combat thing to Xbone users? What about your Alpha backers who paid to get the game made during the Kickstarter? Surely they should have got this first?

It's a perfect fit for the platform, so it made sense for it to come onto Xbox One first - it will be coming as a free update to PC and Mac before the end of the year.

Throwing our core supporters and most dedicated customers under the bus in 3... 2... 1...

Absolutely not. Please read the blog again if you're unsure, and try to be reasonable. I know this is great for Elite: Dangerous and the team who have worked so hard on making the game an amazing experience. It will only improve the support we can offer to our existing playerbase.

Explain why. We got (and still have) what we were entitled to: Alpha and/or beta access to the PC version. At no point anyone mentioned that we will get every new feature on every platform before anyone else.

You can play CQC first on Xbox One in the Game Preview Program next month. CQC is a new way to play Elite: Dangerous, and we’ll be testing it first with the Xbox Live community.

Allright what the ?

1. In the past you always promised that consoles will never EVER take priority over your main platform, which is PC, namely Windows!!! So that is first outrage

2. How much did microsoft pay you for this???

We had to pay more for alpha/beta access but xbox users pay less than retail for the game and testing something new before the pc players . . .

This won't end well.

Come on. You guys really expect your Alpha, PB and B backers, not to mention current players, all PC GAMERS, to be happy about this can you?

No denying it now. Damn it, I kinda feel like crap inside. Another dream game gone down the toilet.

I blame the DDF members and their almost god like powers.

Calm down folks. Let the console users have this one, it sounds a perfect fit for the platform. CQC reads as a dumbed down arena-type mode for typical console users. It sounds like it basically cuts out the ED universe and simply allows ships to challenge and shoot at each other. More funds into FDEV coffers = better game updates for those that will continue to play ED normally. :D We'll see...

More funds = better game, that's always the excuse. PP and now Xbox exclusives, how's all those additional funds working out for you?

guys, you can't imagine how awesome i think this CQC is. this is exactly how i imagined pvp to be implemented but better.

you really know what you're doing. i haven't been this excited for a game since id software showed rage for the first time. i'm looking forward to a great future. when planetary landings will be introduced, my head will probably explode. who needs star citizen anymore?

the exclusivity is a bit annoying. i hope microsoft gave you enough money to justify this. as long as it's a timed exclusive, i don't care that much. but don't let us wait for too long.
