Hello David!

For all of the Machinima creators that enjoy filming in game, do you think a separate tool similar to what you use to make in house trailers could be implemented to allow more cinematic shots or angles? I know there was discussion about the possibility of a camera drone.

Also curious about the expansion of content for launch - will we see more than just unidentified signal source encounters as we explore deep space? I enjoy the sights but tend to be drawn back to the core systems due to the similarity in content.

Thanks for all the hard work and please consider another U.S event possibly on the east coast :p

Hi David!
Sorry if this question has already been answered but.. what about the Targoid???!!! There can't be an Elite game without them hiding in Hyperspace or attacking a docking station!!! Is there a way top have them play a key role in the universe?
Thanks

Hi David,

Will we be able to personalise our ships more in the future, a return for the bobbleheads, ship decals, HUD colour variety etc. As well as this, is a 3rd person exterior camera view planned? I think these features would let players feel more connected to "their" ship(s).

Thanks for all your hard work

Hi

Will the complex damage models such as the shattered anaconda in an earlier dev video be in on launch (and if not at least in the future)

also the humans in theE3 video inside the space station. It may only seem on the surface a small thing but I think that sort of stuff really makes the game come to life.

thanks

+1 this guy's cinematography could teach Hollywood a thing or two these days.

Hi David,

I'm not an original Elite fan, but watching ZeeWolf and other Youtubers play the game drew me in. :) I'm very appreciative of the game mechanics so far, love the feel and how the game plays. I feel you have done a fantastic job realizing how space "feels" and works, and the universe as of Beta 3 is really engaging. I'm enjoying the sandbox.

Do you feel that, by launch, the Unidentified Signal sources will be much more robust and story-driven than they have been in the beta to date, or will that be future development?

I believe mine got missed with all the refund/offline stuff. :(

We have no intention of taking the servers down, but I understand what you are getting at. We plan to archive the game from time to time (ie matching client and servers and game world state), and would release such an archive if the servers were to come down. That would also address the issue of how you preserve an online game for the future, from the whole 'retro' perspective.

I'm not sure I understand this. Who would the archive be released to? And what guarantee would we have that they would continue to support the game?

Hi David

First thank you for the chance to play all of the elite series, My own interest in physics and astronomy was partly inspired by Frontier Elite 2 and resulted in me becoming a researcher in particle physics in the end. Sure lots of other things influenced and inspired along the way but that definitely was in there.

My question is this, the procedural generation of the galaxy is quite amazing, do the development team and yourself see data that the player base generate? My favourite has to be the rings around planets. I am desperate to go find some of the more exotic items in the universe, are you at liberty to say if for example we can go out and find neutron stars, comets, more realistic representation of young forming stars (such as thick rings around them, might make supercruise a bit dicy sure ;) ) One thing i loved Frontier Elite 2 for was this sense of discovery and i can imagine me spending alot of time in ED simply exploring.

Have you been surprised at the large backlash on the offline issue and do you agree it could have been handled a lot better.

Why not release such an archive of the current build then? An offline sandbox is all people are asking for, there's no need to add a rich story or advanced support. Simply remove the "secrets of the galaxy" and modders could make the sandbox interesting down the line. I think that could be an acceptable compromise.

Was the decision around offline and online modes of play holding back development of multiplayer features at all? Does dropping offline support mean that we might see more mechanisms for cooperating groups of players to meaningfully interact with content in the universe?

Outfitting

Hi David, LOVE your work!

When I goto ship outfitting at a space station, I have to click every compartment to find out if there's even anything for sale. Am I doing something wrong or could the compartment/mounts be redded out in the menu if the station has nothing to sell me please?

Your fan, Simon.

p.s still not sure how you're going to provide all the ships/ starting galaxies if there's only one game save

Will you produce a roadmap for future development post release? It would be good to see where we are headed with this. I know it's an 'organic' growth of a game, hence dropping offline, but I think we'd all appreciate specific feature goals from the team. I'd suggest focussing on community content creation. That way, our universe becomes richer with minimal input from your side. Allow us to transfer money, hire mercs, hire anyone really. Maybe Elite could be played from the trading screen entirely if that's your thing, but community content seems ideal to fill such a large universe. Oh, and comms / chatroom type stuff? Come on, it's an MMO....

First, thanx for a wonderful game.

My question is on something of....functionality I guess.

When viewing the GALAXY MAP there can be a lot of info there, and maybe it would be nice to have a way to see what system I have been to in the past, and what system I have not been to. Something as simple as Systems I have not been too are normal font, systems I have been to are in bold font. Easy to see, no additional filter to run and no matter what view I look in it is all the same (Allegience, Trade, Size etc.)

But, thanx again, and take care, looking forward to wasting as much of my two month vacation piloting across the galaxy as I can!

That's a great idea .. +1
Snapshot Galaxy at release? Job done!

(Suggestion only .. it's well documented I can't play the game ANYWAY :D )
