Hi Mr Braben, do you have any news on a customizable color HUD, because near stars it's very hard to use (orange on orange or orange on yellow)

I appear to have been sold a game you now can't deliver - can you please confirm an unequivocal full refund will be forthcoming due to the lack of offline mode?

Can the mods of this thread confirm that this question hasn't been answered yet - or will all the questions about a refund be avoided? the past tense in that comment must really hurt - "WAS" a huge fan
 
Hi David, I posted this in another thread recently, and in light of the offline news I thought it would be worth posting here too...

Y'know, I would GLADLY hand over more money for this and please read all of the text and think before replying ...

A version of Frontier: Elite II (let's call it for the sake of calling it something "Frontier: Elite II-A" [for Adavanced]), based on the COBRA engine.

You could probably take bits and pieces from what FDEV have done for ED and use that as a base. Bung in some PG goodness that was used in the original, and so on.

Develop it as a seperate project after ED is released of course. Keep ED the way it is without an offline mode, and there you have it - you'll have your offline version of Elite with updated graphics and something resembling Elite II that people like me have been hoping for.

I don't know if this would be everyone else's idea of a compromise, but for me personally it would be.

I reckon an idea - and a game like that - would sell like hotcakes, and would be an excellent compromise to those who were looking for an offline version. What is your opinion on this?

Hi David,

I'm not an original Elite fan, but watching ZeeWolf and other Youtubers play the game drew me in. :) I'm very appreciative of the game mechanics so far, love the feel and how the game plays. I feel you have done a fantastic job realizing how space "feels" and works, and the universe as of Beta 3 is really engaging. I'm enjoying the sandbox.

Do you feel that, by launch, the Unidentified Signal sources will be much more robust and story-driven than they have been in the beta to date, or will that be future development?

What tools are there (planned) for those who want to proceed with perpetual exploration (i.e. no going back to civilisation)?
 
Hi David,

No offline mode is bad news!

Why not release a scaled down version of your server software for people to run on their own computers locally? with perhaps a passive internet connection when available to download updates? or something?

Maybe even let the ED userbase create their own single player experience if you don't have the resources?

Is this feasible?

With a view to creating ever more detailed environments, I am interested to know what you think the biggest challenge is in pushing procedural generation tech to it's limits, is it the computational load during generation steps or the temporary storage costs in memory?

max respect for you and the team who is working in this amazing game, but i feel forced to ask you a thing about the offline mode.

I understand that this time (Unlike previous elite games) you decided to build a game with these characteristics to have an incredible possibility of gameplay in the future.
But, thinking all the players who cannot play the game online (for various reasons):

in the future, may be when all the major expansions will be done, there will be a possibility to think about an offline version ?

Thanks to you and your whole team for working so hard and doing a fantastic job. You know a hell of alot of us have waited along time to get to this point and now we are nearly there. I would not have backed anything other than an elite sequel. I would just like to know if we are going to be able to change the HUD colour at some point? A trivial matter i know but i really want to change that orange.

Another question, at 2013 I bought gift account for my little brother, wanted to keep it supprise, and had no idea we were not supposed to buy 2 game accounts for same store account.

I have now asked (with all needed information) store support to change that (Pirate pledge) account for my brothers information and e-mail, but it seems to take time.

I see from store Q&A that "you are looking at it" (transfering of gift accounts), any decisions yet about it?

I hope you will change your mind regarding offline mode, since many of us do not like online gameplay and pledged because of promised standalone offline game.

And can you make the game less agressive and offensive regarding "allways connected" rule. We backed this game and now are basically being bullied by needing to be constantly connected to the server. Isn't that a bit too much?! As far as I can remember DRM free standalone game was one of the major promises!
 
Hi David,

When we see some of the more exotic objects in our galaxy, (for example black holes, neutron stars, pulsars, strange stars, accretion disks) will the physics of these objects be realistic? Will we see time-bending, light-bending relativistic visual effects?

Also, do you plan to make stars that rotate fast oblate, or are we locked into purely spherical objects?

I have not bought Elite yet, but am getting it tomorrow hopefully as my belated birthday gift, lol.

Well, anyway. I have 2 questions atm:
1. How pricey will future expansions be? I mean those bringing planetary landing etc. Hopefully cheap, I am a counter-richy person.
2. Do you plan on making shard player limit bigger? As EVE player, I truly hope so.
 
David, I thank you and the team for a Brilliant game, network code is looking good after 3.05. Prior to planetary landings would you consider giving us high altitude atmospheric flight sooner? I would love to (just for the hell of it) experience some of those procedural generated clouds and effects.
