I'm British and I do find the OP to be a little offensive, though I don't think that was intended. However, I would love the ability to switch it to £'s, in the mean time I have no issue with it being $. Just feels more involved if I say "Four thousand pounds" instead of "four thousand dollars" to me, which improves immersion factor.

On topic, it's pretty common practice for British games companies to use US localisation. And it's a purely economic decision, as has already been stated by Branes51. That's not to say a bit of customisation isn't nice to have, but let's keep it in perspective. I mean, it's not an economic decision I particularly think is important. Many others have ignored it and just used their own conventions, to little or no cost. As a dev myself, I personally would like to think players are able to enjoy an experience, without throwing a wobbly just because the dev used arbitrary conventions that differ from the ones where that player lives.

The logical thing would be give you a choice, $ or £. In rollercoaster tycoon it was pounds. So why can't we have the choice. All they have to do is change the dollar sign, it's simple. And on the ATS sign have one with dollar and one with pounds. It's not rocket science.

I don't think personally they should remove $ but I think it would be cool for them to give you a choice to switch between it and other currency symbols

Dollar is the name of more than twenty currencies including (by population) those of the United States, Canada, Australia, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, New Zealand, Liberia, Jamaica and Namibia. The U.S. dollar is the official currency of East Timor, Ecuador, El Salvador but Saint Lucia, Dominica and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines each use the East Caribbean dollar. Bahamas uses the Bahamian, Barbados the Barbadian dollar and quite a few other countries have their own version, that are distinctly not $ US.
I like the idea of Planko's (Plankonian Dollar?) but until that's official my parks all use Bermudan bucks, If only because they match my avatar's shorts which believe me, are even louder than his Hawaiian, shirt. (Or Peso's)

The concept of a fictive currency is already hard enough to understand for lambda players, no need to add confusion by using the same word for two different things. [wacky]
Maybe this question goes too far, and the best solution is to
- 1) let the player choose between €, £ and $ (just like it's possible with metres and miles)
- 2) fix/adjust some prices to have something more coherent with the reality while being careful not to break the game balance (There is always someone who know how Excel works in any office)
(Because, let's be honest, we all know that they invented this excuse of parallel money to not fix the problems of balancing the currency. It would be naive to believe that it was not an "easy plan B" that appeared during a working meeting when this issue was discussed [rolleyes] )
But hey ... that's just my opinion.

However the excuse wasn't that they made them Planco Dollars for that reason. That is a separate issue and yes it needs resolving and yes it would make a massive impact to the game.

Yep, and? I still don't want that. I would prefer it's own eco system with it's own monies and that so it feels like it's own place/country myself. RCT series was different in that it never had it's own setting with language and all that.
