Dear Frontier Developments please can you give us an answer?

Imperical Courier is actually smaller than Eagle and Imperial Eagle, and it would actually be a ship worthy of being carried around.

Launching a Condor or Imperial Fighter is just expensive chaff...

I am sure you got the size of the courier wrong.

As you can see the eagle is shorter yet only marginally wider.

If i can't put a sidewinder in my Anaconda i will give FD such a rage tutting!!

Also just want to put out there, it would be really awesome if they made the procedural generation stick like it does in minecraft i can't tell you how much it kills the reality when you visit the same location on a planet only to discover that the land itself has changed even though it's only been say an hour since you last visited it.

Are you entirely sure about this?
I revisited recently a canyon i was particularly taken by months ago and there it was in all its glory.

The question a) has been already answered. Yes, only these two small fighters and possibly some other in the future, specifically designed for this purpose. So no Sidewinders and upwards.
The b) I can't answer and it maybe even hasn't been decided. There are also plans for us to be able to tweak the SRVs, so maybe they are planning to hoard this together in one patch.

Have the updated the description of the Anaconda being able to be upgraded to allow it to carry a Sidewinder?

never mind missed you reply above saying it should be read as everything smaller than a Sidewinder, though I read "up to" means "up to and including" which is generally the case

Well, the Courier is narrower and lighter... But yes the Courier's lenght is a show stopper.

Anyway, I wonder what good will it do for any ship capable of carrying fighters to drop a Condor, Imp Fighter, or even sidewinder or eagle, except to use them as larger chaff...

Never underestimate the power of the dark si... ehm eagle and a capable pilot,
make that two eagles and you see where the pressure comes from.

To give you an image, try to imagine the following scenario:
Pilot A has 2 friends in eagles in his bay Pilot B and C.
Now Aggressor D attacks Pilot A and they fight until shields go down,
by that time D is focussing on A while B and C have tons of time to tickle D at the
sensible modules.
Also one eagle can field 3 torpedos, dodge that up close.

Ok here's how its going down.
The Anaconda and possibly the other large ships will be able to carry two fighters or one sidewinder.
If this is not true may my stomach become bloated, and my head be plucked of all but three hairs!

Yes, me and some guys were racing in a canyon with some imperial eagles, and the plateau that we were using as a launch pad which was at first flat as flat can be turned into a rolling landscape on top. It looked better flat.

Also I think you should give some consideration on that the sidewinder might be bigger than you're giving it credit for. The sort of FSD I was thinking about would be just to get out off a planet, not to travel between systems, and I don't know maybe a condor or... well the condor at least might be able to be fitted with a much smaller SRV than the Scarab like, the lightest of the loads. NO WAIT! I GOT IT! The Condor and the Imperial Fighter, their pods can become a sort of makeshift SRV ejecting from the main craft itself and allowing the player to use the craft to land on planets, however there is one draw back to this, as this would probably take with it the ships ability to take off, be recalled, etc etc, unless it had like a very simple computer that would be able to do that.

Your stomach shall become bloated, and your head shall be plucked of all but three hairs, then. [yesnod]

Planet surfaces/mountains/canyons, even down to small hills and craters, they all remain exactly the same every time you visit them, that is the whole point of procedural generation in Elite.

I memorise my canyon runs, return to the same spot's around Ariel or other interesting moons/planets. People on this forum even share coordinates of interesting locations.

Terrain may change slightly if you have low terrain quality settings in the graphics options.

Well i do remember someone from FD saying they didn't want people to russian doll their ships, with a ship in a ship with an SRV.
Which kind of rules out the sidewinder. However it would be fun and it would turn the Anaconda into the ultimate explorer and i for one would like FD to reconsider [big grin]

The landscape is consistent...
it's only the POIs that don't stick.

I wonder why though. Surely it can't be that difficult for the system to handle a Mothership and Sidewinder both being AI controlled whilst being dismissed from planetside. After all, it's going to be handling an instance of a Mothership and two fighters.

we from a coding perspective want the russian dolls thing ( though eve online did it with cap ships, regular ships and drones)

No, but russian-dolling of ships might present ways of exploiting the system in ways we can't even imagine, yet, but devs already have to consider. :)

I'm hoping they were referring to even larger ships in the future
Where you could end up with a ship with a ship with a ship [wacko]
