Death after 6000ly of exploration,

Ouch. Starting to think about returning myself before I become space dust. Done some 35k ly, hull at 59% and still 23k ly from Sol. Initially I had planned to scan some 1000-2000 additional neutron stars on my way back but...starting to get a bit nervous...

After exploring for many days discovering countless black holes, ammonia worlds, earth like worlds, water worlds and neutron star I died from hitting and asteroid to hard. Losing probably many millions of credits worth of data.
I wonder if anything like this has happened to anyone else here?

This hadn't happened to me personally, but I've got a lot more risk averse as time has gone on. Once upon a time I was making screenshots from inside ring systems, playing chicken between planets and their rings, and "running the canyon" between close binary stars. I've slowed down since I've got more systems scanned and headed further out.

I'm really REALLY sorry to hear you've lost all your exploration data. The +rep can't compensate for that, but you're definitely not on your own. There's a number of us scattered across the galaxy, but we're altogether in this.

I've lost 3 million after bounty hunting for quite a long time. Got lax against an anaconda and edes up knocking out my thrusters
... The most painful part, he didn't kill me, just left me drifting meaning I had to self destruct(no field maintence). Making that decision to lose 3m cr is the worst thing I have ever done

could be worse...

i play open when exploring but i got 135 ly from the furthest civilized system on my way back and got interdicted by a player in a asp............ i blew up. 2 months gone.

Oh man that's really sad. That being said, when I explore, I basically NEVER come out of SC, definitely not in an asteroid field. If I absolutely had to for some reason, I'd deploy my landing gear so I couldn't accidentally hit the boost button.

Sorry man, I feel your pain.

Rep will not fix it I know but here's some for not rage-quitting, blaming Frontier.

I also kind of understand that asteroid thing, half way through to Sgr A* I too felt the need for speed (and some handbrake fun). Dropped into a beautiful icy asteroid belt and opened the A thruster taps a bit. Must've been quite a sight as I was going absolutely Don Quijote mental in there :D

Sorry for your loss commander, hang in there!

RELATED: I swear that the longer and further you have been away directly corresponds to the NPC's determination to destroy you the closer you get to home for cash in.

Sorry for your loss dude, thats really harsh.

I was thinking that last night, coming home after two weeks on the rim, hull at 20% being chased by an Anaconda during an interdiction. I made it....just. The more data I gather the more nervous I get. Having banked some now, I am less nervous.

Commiserations. There is still plenty to log out there.

In the Eagle Nebula, 7,000 Ly from home...

Luckily it was in 1.2 Beta so I didn't care so much... :)

Yeah had something similar got my canopy blown out 500ly from any station (death). Had god knows how many pages sucks could well be the death of this game for me.
I loved this game but there are to many things that are killing the fun. It is getting sucked out only to be replace with anger.
