Newcomer / Intro Debug camera discussion thread

Well you can now appreciate how wonderful the game looks. I've been taking a load of shots of my Cobra near suns just to look at the lighting and the ship model... (ahem!). Back to the camera, a speed control would be nice. Feels a bit 'glacial' at present at the default speed.

I agree that the movement speed of the camera is too slow. Also it's a bit weird controlling it with my HOTAS but I guess I can get used to it.

Thank you, Oh thank you FD!!

Once again to all people that was opposed external view in Elite - now we have the debug camera. It's painfully slow to enter, and to move around. I can`t, I just can't believe someone can use it in combat. Can we all now agree that we have a wonderful tool to do beauty shots and actually see what kind of machines are we flying? What kind of a pilot dont know how his machine looks like right? Now we know! Thank you FD team, this little feature is the best present for me in 1.2.
Also - if you still thinks that debug external cam give the advantage - prove it. You have the tools in your hand. Make a video and prove it.

Why would anyone be against that????:

...but does the view have to reset between uses? I know it doesn't want to convey an advantage, but it does get a little tedious having to orientate the view each time, as opposed to remembering the settings. Galaxy map, I'm looking at you too! ;)

The simple answer is yes, in order to avoid exploits.

^ I'll tell you why :)

Or.. it's unrelated, actually. But here's my "meh" with what I know so far:
How hard could it have possibly been to integrate the camera into gameplay?
a Debug camera for the pilot, to - for instance - assess damage to the hull?
(edit here:That you launch in your cockpit not on your desk.)

It makes me think, again, that Frontier consists of some people who put their
heart and soul into it and of a lot of other people who live entirely by "Yea, Whatever."

If I understood you correctly you thinking about camera drone. Its coming. Debug camera is a test/temporary solution.

Purf,

It's a "debug camera". It was used by the devs as a debugging tool and they decided to make it available to us. They never touted it as anything more than a way to get a basic external view...and even said there would be limited if any control of your ship while using it.

It doesn't work in the Rift as far as I can see. Works when I switch to monitor so assuming this is the case. That sucks big time, I only play ED with a Rift.

This one was a big disappointment ... I was waiting for this after all to see ships in the rift. I hope this is only a bug but not intended.
