Delay in Deinonychus.

I see there is still no species profile for the Deinonychus, even though we saw it on a trailer a fair bit ago now. We’ve also not seen it since on any other footage. I’ve noticed a fair few people take a disliking to the frill on top of its head. I personally like the style of it, might I add.

But, it got me thinking. Now I’m no tech wizard, but could the development team be working on it and maybe removing the frill? Of course it could be completely innocent and I’m just talking complete rubbish. I thought it was worth talking about.

I am one of really disliked the trailer look of Deinonychus. The crest on top of it's head is just TOO WEIRD. There is nothing in it's skeleton which suggests it had anything like that.
Instead I personally would have preferred a look for Deinonychus more like the raptors from JP3. As it would have made them look a bit different that the Isla Nublar raptors, with out making look wildly different. Also it would fit in to JP/JW lore - as to explain why the raptors of JP3 looked a bit different - if they were a different species.

No, I don't think so.
They probably had all the species finished some time ago, certainly this one.

Maybe? I know a lot of people didn’t like the design, including myself. Would be great if they scrambled to redesign it.

I just think they want to show off new dinos, Deinonychus and Raptors were a lot a like and we know what they looked like so nothing new.

I know, as mentioned above, that the designs would have been completed some time ago, but I have noticed a lot of people disliking it. So you never know. Will probably appear on a video now I’ve said this lol

Not just the crest that bugs me, they've given it the deep allosaur-like facial profile from the old 1960s reconstructions. We now know from more complete skulls that it had more gracile face. In other words exactly like the JP raptors which are based off them.

Since the appearance of the movie Velociraptors is identical to a (featherless) Deinonychus instead of a real Asian Velociraptor, I guess they needed to make the D. model distinct. Still I hope they at least remove the crest, or replace Deinonychus with a genuine crested theropod like Guanlong.

Probably not. They might be, but probably not.

I say this because there are still quite a few species we've known for a while that don't have a profile, and it's not like they're being delayed for model rework. It's very clear that Deinonychus's appearance was an artistic choice made by Frontier to differentiate it from Velociraptor. It is pretty ugly, to be perferctly honest, but it's grown on me. I'd love to see how it behaves differently from Velociraptor.

I think these are also going to be clever girls. [yesnod]

Im going to put them in an enclosure with the raptors and see what happens.

I personally hoped that Deinonychus would have looked something like this

JP Raptors

The JP3 Raptors have already been explained. They were made illegally by Ingen scientists, along with Spinosaurus, Ankylosaurus, Ceratosaurus and Coritosaurus. They are no Deinonychus. Probaly the Velociraptor will have skin of JP3 Raptors

Sadly, I don't think this means anything in regards to the appearance of the Deinonychus... I fear the best we can hope for now is that players and fans figure out how to mod the game...

I’m betting that we get to see several species profiles during the livestream on the 10th. It would fit how FDev do their streams. They usually run for an hour to an hour and a half and they show clips and trailers we haven’t seen before. Their will probably be several devs coming and going to answer our questions as well.

I’m sure there is nothing to worry about with the D.

Yes - I know that they have been explained in movie canon. Still in the first movie - Dr. Grant and his team are said to be digging up a "Velociraptor" antirhoppus aka Deinonychus. Also the given the illegal creation of JP 3 raptors, and how they differ from the raptors in Jurassic Park, Lost World, Jurassic World - it suggests that these raptors could have contain dna from a different raptor species. Or at least a highly altered genome of the original JP raptors.

Still as I said before - I had "HOPED" that Deinonychus (in JW: Evolution) would have looked more like the JP3 raptors. Not that Deinonychus "IS" actually the JP3 raptor.

Also by Coritosaurus - I take you mean Corythosaurus.
