General / Off-Topic Depiction of Earth is totally wrong in this game

You should really be having this discussion in this thread: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=230756

That's the best part. "They" will not have to "pull it off". The Great A'tuin can do all the pulling and pushing :)

why do we have 2 flat earth threads? Is there some flat earth thing going on right now?

There's nothing going on. Everything is as it should be.
Don't tell me NASA indoctrinated you with their poorly crafted hoax...

FD described how the earth orbits around the sun and how the sun, in turn, orbits around the center of a vast collection of stars called our galaxy. At the end of the lecture, a little old lady at the back of the forum got up and said: "What you have told us is rubbish. The world is really a flat plate supported on the back of a giant turtle." FD gave a superior smile before replying, "What is the turtle standing on?" "You're very clever, young man, very clever," said the old lady. "But it's turtles all the way down!"

The turtle is flying in space of course why should it stand anywhere? your spaceship isn't standing anywhere too

it's going on since the existence of earth.

Well FS could make an easter egg and hide a world somehwere in the depth of the galaxy looking like this. maybe someone will find it amongst the billions of stars, maybe no one ever.

Some minor c-grade celebrity outed himself as a (edited to appease forum rules: very uneducated person) and openly stated he believes the earth is flat. Now the internet will keep making fun of it until Trump wins the election.

As funny as I find this thread, how freaking cool would it be if there was a planet in the game like that. Not Earth obviously, that should be on the back of a turtle. :p

Seriously though there should be a alien artificial world that flat like that. It's would be something to make me leave the bubble for a change.

Nah, I believe they have been to space. True, rockets can't work, because there is nothing what they could push themselves off. But if you give an object enough of a kick (from an elephant, for instance) you can get it to circle the flat Earth.
Then you just need a simple fish-eye lens to make the Earth look round.

It's very profound, I give them that.

Well it's not that insane an idea. You would need a planet that is spinning so fast it "flings" itself out to form a disc, rather than crush itself down into a sphere. Although I think they only things that is light enough and can spin fast enough are gas clouds around proto-stars or black holes.

Arguably you could classify Saturn's rings as a flat moon (or moons), but that's a stretch and the Saturians might have something to say about it.

Aah so a troll. So on a flat earth reality, nobody plays football but they all play Frisbee instead?

hehehe :)

Ha! The author of that article clearly doesn't understand how rockets work. It has little to do with the gas pushing against something but rather the velocity of the gas leaving the engine. Newton's 3rd law of motion 101.

After reading a bit more of that website I'd go so far as to suggest that the author of that article isn't even capable of getting himself dressed in the morning and isn't allowed to use metal cuttlery.

The most absurd thing about this is it's not like it's difficult to test. It's not like the age old argument of science versus religion trying to prove / disprove the existence of God. Any mindful teenager could test this theory in a garage in 20 minutes. Do rockets work in a vacuum? Well... put a rocket in a vacuum!
