Describe the next SRV (buggy)

it may need some new DLC for it but I was thinking this...
:p:p

Doesn't fly. Try this:

Might need to work on the canopy.

I think the lack of NPC SRV's is down to the lack ofa decent NPC collision detection and pathfinding code.

I for one would love to have a bunch of marauding NPC's in Scarabs attack you as you are out doing a mission.

Or have ground based missions that yuou are asked to attack a convoy.

CMDR ToCoSo also submitted a few ideas many many moons ago about having roads between settlements, to add to NPC life on planets.

Maybe this will all be part of Beyond the Beyond of Beyond.....
+1000 for NPC srv's
:)

The answer is in the thread title...

I fear FD have dropped the ball on any further planetary experience developments.

They did add some Thargoid and Guardian structures, but not much time is spent there.

In the end, this is a game about space ships, so I have little hope for any other srv.

Hell, we can't even customize the scarab and we already have so many SLF variants.

All you combat junkies... you sadden me.

Given all that the new (beta) exploration mechanics are revealing to us, the only logical, sensible next SRV is one with a drilling rig and an increased cargo capacity, allowing for surface and sub-surface mining of planets.

Keeping with the naming convention, this will either be the Vodel Weevil or the Vodel Herculese.

(Just in case you didn't know, Vodel is the manufacturer of the Scarab - another type of beetle).

I still hope that one day we’ll have SRVs as per the art book concepts, but thinking about the skimmer-type vehicle suggestions I can see the possibility of Zarch/Virus style gameplay. A nimble scout that’s difficult to lock on to could make for exciting combat. Perhaps give it the ability to carry an underslung load for some Thrust style shenanigans.

What I’d really like to see though is a similar system to that used in Carrier Command Gaea Mission, where you have a basic vehicle that you can outfit while on the mothership. You can go from a light, fast scout up to a heavily armed and armoured tank, with whatever specialist equipment or weaponry the mission requires.

Amazing ideas in this thread honestly. It is gonna happen ofc in ED, because there is no time in this 10 year plan, thank God.

New buggies, along with the mythical Panther, would be good candidates for the promised LEP goodies. maybe something along the lines of dump trucks and front-end loaders to harvest the salt?

Yellow trucks, of course.
