Desert animals

There are only 4 desert habitat animals and 4 exhibit habitat animals. I would like to request more.

Many desert dwelling animals can be created ingame with easy or relatively easy reskins.

While I do absolutely appreciate the South America pack, we weren't exactly suffering from a shortage of temperate and tropical animals.

There are many potential desert animals that would be relatively easy to include in the game.

Habitat animals:

Mojave Tortoise (reskin of either tortoise ingame)
Desert Iguana (modified reskin of Nile Monitor)
Mountain Lion (reskin of Jaguar)
Desert Bighorn Sheep (modified reskin of Dall Sheep)
Coyote
Kit Fox
Roadrunner
Dromedary Camel
Meerkat

Exhibit species:

Deathstalker
Horned Lizard
Rosy Boa (includes multiple color possibilities)
Camel Spider
Sidewinder
Red Spotted Toad

I would add the fennec fox as one of the most iconic desert animals.

Also desert antilopes like Arabian and scimitar-horned oryx and addax.

Nubian ibex would be a nice one too, although I would prefer an Alpine ibex for the game and hopefully that could be in a Europe DLC.

I would agree with Markun's suggestions. The original list is very North America centric. As a desert tortoise I think the Sulcata would be appropriate. I think the Mojave Tortoise with a carapace of 6 inches and weight under 10 lbs is too small for a habitat animal. The kit fox would also be by far the smallest terrestrial habitat animal in the game. If we are going to push the parameters of size, I would much rather see the far more famous Fennec fox. The kit fox is also quite rare in captivity. The desert iguana is roughly the same size as the Gila Monster (i.e. much smaller than the Nile Monitor), so it would be much more appropriate as an exhibit animal. Rather than another lizard from the Sonoran desert, I would rather see a colorful African agama species (e.g. Agama agama, A. mwanzae), Arabian Uromastyx, or Australian monitor (e.g. Perentie). If we are sticking with the Sonora, I think the chuckwalla is more iconic than the desert iguana (personally if we get more iguanas in the game I am hoping for the blue iguana, rhinoceros iguana, or Fiji banded). We really need a cobra in the game, and there are many desert species to choose from. I totally agree we need a desert scorpion in the game (more classic than rainforest species in my mind), and I would love to see a horned lizard or thorny devil.

I’m crazy for desert animals. My personal favourites are Scimitar horned oryx and Addax

and would also love these below:

ARABIAN DESERT

Arabian oryx

Dromedary Camel

Arabian leopard

Hamydoras baboon

NORTH AFRICA

Somali wild ass

Dama Gazelle

Arui

Fenek

I would really like the African Spurred Tortoise in the Game. Coyotes (at least I think they are also living in Deserts), Roadrunners and Peccaries would also be great. But of course the other mentioned Animals would be great too. I do also hope that more Plants will be included in Future Updates and DLCs

While a lot of people are expecting an Australian DLC. I personally would be more excited when they should announce a desert one.

Me too. Maybe I heard "Australian pack" a little too often by now. Or I just don't know no Australian animal that can beat a Fennec for me ;)
But quite honestly, I feel Australia is a save guess.

I would personally love a desert dlc or even a African dlc. I know Africa dominates the game but meerkats and rhinos would be great. Desert would probably be a dromedary for sure then the next three or so animals would be a great surprise. We definitely do need a fox in game tho. Like everyone expects a Australian dlc will probably be sooner then later which would be nice to have kangaroos and hopefully koalas but I think I’d rather have a not so expected choice first.

I think an Australia pack is pretty likely to include at least one desert animal, probably the Red Kangaroo.

Red Kangaroo would be cool, but I bet on the Wallaby. It's more common in zoos in europe at least. Then again, common or not didn't stop Frontier in the past, so... we'll see. If we ever get to see it. Seems like another week will pass without any news.

Depends on the species of wallaby though,... I haven't been to many zoos in Europe (just some in the UK) but i'd guess that their wallabies are from a colder region (Tasmania?) rather than from the desert..... Personally I wouldn't be surprised to see a couple of macropods (since you might as well use the macropod rig for multiple species).

I doubt we'll see the wallaby before the kangaroo. The red kangaroo is the obvious pick - it was in both Zoo Tycoon games and it's the most well-known Australian animal alongside the koala. The red kangaroo is basically the mascot of Australian wildlife. Personally I'd prefer the eastern grey due to its commonness and better docility (making it a good candidate for walkthrough habitats, which are very common with kangaroos, wallabies, and emus in Australia and New Zealand), but I'm expecting the red kangaroo.

I hope after they finish the 'Continent' packs, they do biome packs to flesh out the existing biomes. We really are lacking in Desert species sorely, and we could use a few more Tundra animals as well.

I do love the idea for the Camel Spider as a Desert addition though!!! That's something I hadn't thought of, and I would love to see it in the game now. :)
