Newcomer / Intro Detailed White Dwarf & Neutron Cone Data with Escape Information

This thread serves as my public "dumping ground" for information regarding White Dwarfs and Neutrons. Please use this as a precursor when encountering these stars.

To begin, this is what I have:
  • Current number of recorded tests: 115
  • Rate of Hull decay, without Reinforcement Packages: 1.17*Integrity (maybe 1.18)
  • Rate of Module decay, without Reinforcement Packages: ~3.5*Integrity
  • Canopy destruction minimum 33 seconds; maximum 75 seconds; average 52.5 seconds.
  • Thrusters and FSD are only needed to survive as long as both meet power needs of 50% or below on Priority 1. Factoring in the Power Plant is NOT required, rather it is optional, to escape a cone.
Next testing:
  • Re-verify data with better precision.
  • Testing of Module Reinforcement Package numbers.
  • AFMU capabilities, timing, and analysis on Canopy (using ?-rated AFMU).
  • Reboot/Repair testing and data collection.
  • Reboot/Repair capabilities on failed T/FSD/PP if data proves useful.
  • Establish pre-testing conditions with escape procedures.

Please let me know if you are willing to help. You can find me on the Hull Seals Discord. Any help with gathering information is greatly appreciated. This is a lot of work and getting even a little assistance will me save time and credits.
Please be patient as I continue my testing and update accordingly. The next report may be later this year, depending on time spent in game doing these tests. Thanks for reading.

Wow! My hats off! Would you mind sharing some details as to the testing procedures itself?
Thanks. I would be glad to share this information;
I always record this process. The first step I take was to encounter the white dwarf cone at the worst-possible location, near the center of the cone. Upon doing so, I move to the right-panel and document when modules fail by constantly scrolling through the list. Sometimes they will not fail when the ship is destroyed, so I have to calculate when they will fail (you can see the calculation in some of the numbers).
So far I have only gotten to the part of hull and module destruction. Right now I'm preparing different ship builds before the Alpha starts. The next phase will happen in the Alpha with attempting to escape the cone using every ship in the game at least 20 times (that's my original number, but seems more like 10 due to funds). During which, as you can see in the first spreadsheet, I will be using two different times and two different escape types.
A more detailed report will happen later once I feel I have enough data and am confident with my findings and conclusion.
Hope that answered your question.

Not really a newcomer's thread is it? - Maybe better posted (moved) to ships or exploration sub-fora?
I initially put this here because I believed new players would benefit from this information more than experienced players. I agree that this could also be placed in the exploration section you mentioned. If others feel it is more deserving there, then it can be moved.

Thank you very much! Can you also share how exactly you do this in terms of ship replacement etc? Are you using FC and carry multiple ships with you? Must be enormous amount of work, time and resources spent on this research... Again, this is astonishing!

And regarding who is going to benefit: I am not exactly new and I still find the info in this experiment overwhelming, so I think new players will not even understand what you are talking about... But I am judging from my personal perspective, maybe there are new players, who are much more advanced than I was at that time... ;)

Ship placement is currently in my home system, Van Maanen's Star. Based on initial testing, LAWD 96 will be my experiment location with a Hull Seal's Carrier present for respawning. Most of my ships will make it in less than 2 jumps.
As for who this will benefit: mainly the Hull Seals. I wanted to gather as much information about escaping from white dwarf cones as I could so the group could help (mainly new) players who get into them. I believe our current information is wrong, outdated, and that we lack necessary info, and am willing to prove it at great lengths.

Frontier has released information regarding the Alpha. The Alpha is utilizing the same conditions as the Fleet Carrier Beta - the transfer of account data. Because of this, I have edited information to accommodate for Phase 4. This does several things:
  1. Pushes back my experiment time.
  2. Ensure better or more precise information is collected or analyzed before the experiment.
  3. Gets the word-out.
  4. Allow for more testing.
Thanks to those who read this thread and come out of it with a better understanding of the numbers involved. I appreciate any comments or questions regarding my endeavor.
