In response to recent upheaval in Chi Orionis and the MetaDrive Inc. fiasco, the Earth Defense Fleet issues an open request for information regarding the location or intentions of the refugee CMDR Raan Corsen.
1 : Commanders are requested not to attack this person until the EDF have had a chance to speak with them. It is likely that media coverage of this debacle is skewed, and it is of utmost importance that the truth of this matter is brought to public attention.
2 : It is imperative that this person is placed in EDF protective custody as soon as possible for their own safety, and also for the future stability of federal commerce.
3 : The Earth Defense Fleet home base is located at Fisher Terminal in Okinura. Facilities for the comfort and well-being of this person have already been established in anticipation of the arrival of this guest.
4 : Recent reports indicate a potential sighting in the Chi Orionis system, but as the refugee is likely to be fleeing Sirius Corp. in this system, it is unlikely they are still in Chi Orionis space.

Yes, unfortunately for the EDF most of the community is totally focused on the brand new beta atm. Good on them for their efforts though, I voted for them in the dangerous games and don't regret it in the slightest.

This is CMDR Nitecreeper (King Fisher Tournament Champion) of the Earth Defense Fleet. On the 27th of August 3302, a report was published by the Independent auditor BigSix into the finances of MetaDrive Inc. They found several anomalies with their finances and that overall it was a “big mess”. Due to this, MetaDrive Inc, was reported to be in receivership and needed a buyer. The Sirius Corporation then volunteered to financially support MetaDrive Inc. That move could potentially place the drives into Sirius Corp’s hands. We also gained intelligence citing that the New Chi Orionis Resistance, which was in control of Chi Orionis, was mishandling system resources.
Due to all of this we decided to take control of the Chi Orionis system. Taking control of the system would allow the EDF to fix the mismanagement of the system that helped lead to the financial meltdown of MetaDrive Inc. Also, it would provide financial stability and security. The EDF believes that by controlling Chi Orionis we can give Meta Drive Inc. another option and possibly broker a deal to finance MetaDrive Inc.

Although I'm 22,000Ly away I am monitoring the situation in Chi Orionis with great interest. The Earth Defense Fleet is continuing the effort to establish communications with Raan Corsen. If there is any truth to Corsen's accusations then it is vitally important that we get his full testimony on the matter. Sirius Corporation is much more then just another corporation. They are, due to their size and influence, a power of their own almost on equal footing the the Alliance and the Empire. In fact they come close even to the Federation itself in influence. If there is any truth to them being behind the assassination of a Federation citizen then they need to be held accountable.
EDF has issued the following press release in hopes that Corsen will respond and open a line of communication between himself and Federation investigators:
Security Forces in the Chi Orionis system received a sharp reprimand from Earth Defense Fleet leadership following news that a known fugitive, Raan Corsen, was sighted by an independent Commander.
"This is unacceptable," said Sky Marshall Victore Beskor of the Earth Defense Fleet. "We hold our Security Forces to a higher standard then this. The fact that Raan Corsen was spotted in EDF-controlled space and not detained for questioning is something this fleet cannot tolerate."
"During the brief contact between Corsen and Commander Kosmo an acusation was made against Sirius Corporation suggesting that Sirius is somehow behind the death of Metadrive CEO Femi Dakarai. I've asked the Coroner's Office in Chi Orionis to conduct a thorough autopsy to rule out any possibilities of foul play while we continue to try and track Corsen down for questioning."
The Earth Defense Fleet's continuing manhunt for former MetaDrive employee Raan Corsen met with success today when, acting on an anonymous tip, a full wing of EDF pilots led by the fleet's Homefront Director, Commander Marcus Kross, located Corsen’s Imperial Eagle on the surface of first planet of the second star in the LHS 2088 system.
Kross and his team approached Corsen and attempted to engage him in conversation. Corsen refused to answer direct questions and, when Kross mentioned taking Corsen into protective custody, the Imperial Eagle launched and began to rabbit from the scene. An intense chase ensued but team chose not to interdict their target out of fear of further alienating the fugitive.
"EDF simply wants information," Kross said. "I offered Raan Corsen our protection but he refused. Our next encounter will unfortunately be less polite as we will attempt to disable his ship if necessary to force him to comply with our directives."

Jokes aside this is really cool, don't know what to expect as an outcome of this. I personally think Raan is a Core Dynamics spy covertly injected into the MetaDrive debacle by the Feds who originally established MD via r&d projects put into motion by Hudson's administration.

Corsen. Heretofore and forthwith the CFC extends an offer of Sanctuary to Raan Corsen, so that he may come to a location of his choosing and make the truth known in an open forum free from away from the supposed safety being offered by those who have already stated they will fire upon him in their next encounter. In light of this I have volunteered to lead the effort to locate Cmdr. Corsen, and ensure his safe passage.

What is about to follow is a brief exposition of what we believe to be the driving narrative behind the Raan Corsen saga. A great deal of this is based on conjecture and deduction.
An announcement went out in Galnet on 12 August 3301 stating that MetaDrive, a company located in the Chi Orionis system, was looking for investors. The Earth Defense Fleet had recently expanded into the system and so, under the direction of Sky Marshall Victore Beskor, we began a campaign to gain control of the system. The Earth Defense Fleet wanted a seat at the table for any negotiations with the startup hyperdrive technology company.
On August 27th it was revealed that there were major problems at MetaDrive. We discovered that "The company is being placed in receivership. It needs a buyer, and quickly." We also found out that MetaDrive was in talks with Sirius Corporation. We knew now that time was short and the fantastic pilots of the Earth Defense Fleet redoubled our efforts in Chi Orionis.
After EDF took control of Chi Orionis we proposed a counter offer to MetaDrive in which EDF offered to broker a deal between MetaDrive and Core Dynamics. The news of this deal was kept very quiet and only published in a few select local news feeds. If you were paying close attention to the news in Chi Orionis you would have read the following on or about September 8th:

In a surprising turn of events and as a bid to keep Metadrive, Inc. intellectual property in Federation hands the Earth Defense Fleet has taken control of the Chi Orionis system. Rumours that Metadrive was developing new hyperspace technologies has sparked a lot of interest throughout the galaxy.
"Mismanagement of system resources by the New Chi Orionis Resistance led to the problems that placed Metadrive into receivership. We had to act fast to try and keep Metadrive’s tech under Federation control," said EDF Sky Marshall Vicktore Beskore. "A concerted effort of our entire fleet delivered control of Chi Orionis into our hands. It is our hope that, through this action, we can at least temporarily block a collaboration between Metadrive and Sirius to allow time for them to consider other options. The Earth Defense Fleet would gladly work toward directly funding Metadrive ourselves or to broker a deal between the company and Core Dynamics.”
Here's where I switch to conjecture. Whether or not this is true ... I don't know but I believe this is the truth as Raan Corsen believes it to be.
When Sirius Corporation discovered that EDF was working with Core Dynamics on a counter offer ... they took things too far. They found a way to kill MetaDrive's chairman, Femi Dakarai, and make it look like natural causes. Raan Corsen found out what had happened and made off with the key MetaDrive technology that Sirius was attempting to acquire. Sirius then hacked into the computer systems of MetaDrive and falsified data implicating Corsen in criminal activities knowing that this would immediately initiate a manhunt for Corsen.
The Earth Defense Fleet was suspicious of this entire series of events. Our hunt for Corsen was low-key until a few days later a non-EDF pilot encountered Corsen in the Chi Orionis system. This encounter helped to inspire this thread. Here's the news from September 26th, 3302 published in Sirius and Chi Orionis:
Sirius Accusations
Various witnesses have come forward in response to requests from Chi Orionis system security to report any sightings of suspended MetaDrive Inc. employee Raan Corsen. Commander Joel Kosmo was the first to report contact with the evasive Raan Corsen near Chi Orionis 1.
Commander Kosmo attempted to pursue Corsen, who was flying an Imperial Eagle, and had a brief conversation with Corsen who claimed:
“Best thing you can do for me is to leave me alone. Sirius Corp got Femi killed, don’t believe what you’re reading on GalNet. They’re trying to get me, it’s a cover up! Some secret MetaDrive tech data, don’t know what it is, but people are being killed for it!”
Sirius Corp has yet to respond to these accusations.
Corsen’s Imperial Eagle has generated rumors that the Empire may be aiding him, but no additional evidence to support those suspicions has surfaced.
Knowing that Corsen was still active in and around EDF space we redoubled our efforts to locate Corsen. This culminated in a tip placed here, in this thread. That tip, a video, indicated that Corsen was in the LHS 2088 system. A team of EDF pilots arrived and were able to locate Corsen. Corsen eventually fled the scene before our team member with a cargo scanner could arrive.
We believe that Corsen is carrying contraband materials relating to MetaDrive's experimental hyperspace technology. Pilots wishing to assist EDF in tracking down the fugitive are asked to carry a cargo scanner and scan Corsen's ship to find out what is in his hold. That is the first and most important part of this operation. Aside from that please offer Corsen the opportunity to take up EDF's genuine offer of hospitality. We will provide him protection and sanctuary at Fisher Terminal in Okinura. If Corsen attempts to flee you are authorized to disable but NOT DESTROY his ship. It is vitally important that Corsen's testimony be made a matter of public record.
If you locate Corsen please contact EDF via our shoutbox at www.earthdefensefleet.net and coordinate efforts to bring the fugitive back to EDF space. We will also be monitoring this thread.
