Dear Frontier

I believe that it is time to accept the fact that you've made a total and unacceptable hash of this release. Your only reasonable and responsible course of action is to unwind it and set the game back to Horizons.

You need to go back to the drawing board on this and decide where you're going with this game and IF it is down the route of a half baked FPS then you must lean on the decades of experience preceding Odyssey. What you have released is not good enough by any measure.

Odyssey is an incongruous mess that is so painfully clearly ANOTHER license to grind in lieu of actual galaxy building content that I dispair over whether ANYONE actually has intent to continue building ED into a believable and living universe.

Unwind it, rethink, and re-release as something that the community actually wants. This is a blatant attempt to grab another segment of the gaming community but no attempt has been made to have it make sense in the broader ED context.

Odyssey is a developmental open wound and frankly you're bleeding out. Fix it before you no longer have the opportunity to do so.
Never.
Gonna.
Happen.

I purchased the Alpha deluxe version and have clocked up a fair number of hours already (though a good few of frustration/bewilderment) so I won't request a refund now.

Having said that - if Frontier would offer me one (they won't I'm sure) I think I would actually take them up on it.

I'm not defending that position (I know, my hat is slipping), I'm just saying I suspect things are so cuffed in terms of timescales that all plans are up in the air.

It's not a good thing, but this update points that way to me.

I don't honesty believe they ever had power play plans. I don't blame Rubbernuke for trying though. As I player I am even grateful for his efforts.

Unwind Odyssey ? Why ? No !
Well seriously... 5 weeks after launch, a rollback would probably do more harm to the game than carrying on in addressing its issues.
Personally, except for the remaining bugs and performance issues, I find odyssey more enjoyable than Horizon now (which was not the case 3 weeks ago).

Have you tried odyssey recently ?

If you wanted to surprise the community with the Odyssey release, then I guarantee you you did it. But this is not a surprise like "Oh my God! It's a miracle! I didn't even expect this to be possible!", But a surprise like "Hey buddy! What's with your pants? Hey wait, you committed an act of defacement in your pants! You urgently need to wash and change clothes! "

Oh no please, why are we lighting up the cockpit like a Christmas tree.

In your car at night, is it really light...

No, its dark.
We are in space 4.0 was fine... looking real.

Give us a light switch or dimmer switch to turn off. Or turn lights on when you land..... like when you open a car door

The only thing FDev can do to win back some of their reputation and avoid potential lawsuits is to offer no-questions-asked refunds to anyone who wants them. Let's face it, not only is there no real attempt to come back from this it would probably be too late anyway.
I would gladly return this money and wait on Horizons for a couple of years. I would return the money for two copies bought for myself and my wife. I didn’t get an ounce of pleasure from what Odyssey gave me. I play Horizons.
