Great news, I've been playing since Gamma and have been kicking myself for not have gone for the beta expansion. Any chance these could make another appearance in the store?

Copy/Pasta from latest newsletter???

Yes but then he stuck around to answer questions. I like the direction this is going, if the producers start to post and discuss new content and balance passes before they are released into the game this bodes very well.

The confirmation of more human resource for the game is also encouraging because it means sales must have been good enough to put more bums on seats in the team.

I'd still like to hear more insight on HOW the wings will be working? Is there a possibility to actually escort a transport and help it immediately, if it gets interdicted? As now, if you escort a transport, if the transport gets interdicted, the escort can't help when the help is in the most direst of needs... So being in a wing should allow that others getting interdicted, makes the whole wing encounter that guy doing the interdiction at the same time.

It wouldn't surprise me if ED was launched on Xbox One before PS4 since Frontier already have a working relationship with Microsoft since before when they have developed many titles for them. Maybe even a timed exclusive?

If Frontier start doing the Microsoft "timed exclusive" obsession, Frontier will lose all my respect.

Are the Thargoids back?

Just encountered some enemies that multiply. Couldn't tag them, cuz I was running for my life! About 10 blips when I dropped out of frame drive. about 20+ when I jumped.

Shields collapsed in about 3 seconds and the mil spec bulkheads were down to 38% by the time I jumped out. By bad luck, the only person I tagged was a clean sidewinder.

Were you being missile spammed (would account for the many blips and quick loss of shields/hull)?

Like I meant either way, a previous poster suggested doing timed exclusives, I am suggesting timed exclusives are bad - either way.

I don't see the problem myself ... Exclusives are why people buy one console from another .. That's been the case since forever ..

It wouldn't surprise me if it came first to the Xbox ... Whether anyone see's that as a bad thing or not will depend on whether someone is a fanboy or not .. The rest of us don't really care

Now your putting words into my mouth to prove your own point. I said timed exclusives, not it coming out on one first because they just happened to work on that first. Example, the Mac version is not out yet, it is not a "timed exclusive", it's just because the PC version was made first. Completely different subject.

Now I am going to make a wild assumption like you have, don't come crying to the forums when it comes out first on Playstation! lol :D

No missiles. Just lots of fire from what appeared to be railguns, or similar. Could see the projectiles blasting past my screen in rapidly increasing numbers.

The list of features I hope are still planned and feasible for the near future are (in this order):

1. Transport service for ships between stations (in real time, no need to magically and instantaneously beam them over hundreds of light years)
2. Passenger transport missions with dedicated "cabin" modules, like described in the DDA (put those beautiful Orcas to a specific use!)
3. Wings
4. Android companion app

Some stuff I really hope to see but that might need a lot of work to implement :

1. persistent NPCs, like described in the DDA as well (I don't want to kill the same guy over and over and over - after dozens of other commanders have already killed him hundreds of times before me!)
2. interaction with slaves / passengers on your ship (as mission givers etc.) - right now they don't have any feature that distinguishes them from other cargo
3. characters / NPCs with faces and dialog options (even though I can image this might be difficult to do in a procedural way if one wants to keep the high graphic and immersion level of ED, it would give the game sooo much; someone already pointed out that Eve has a pretty advanced character builder, that - perhaps - could be used to randomly generate NPC characters)

The lack of a persistent dynamic universe and NPC's is a disgrace actually since it was played up and a big part of the DDA.
A lot of the missing content would help the game so much!

I can forgive the early release if these promises are made good in the not too distant future.
Killing the same randomly spawning NCP is a 90's gameplay mechanic, I expect a lot more sophistication in today's games.

Apple? What a waste of resources. :(

Absolutely!

Why the petty bigotry? The Mac version was a stated stretch goal, and I know it was one of the things that persuaded me to up my pledge, as it was for a lot of other people, too. FD hit the stretch goal and put those extra resources into a Mac version as they said they would. You're still getting the game you were promised and paid for.

What's the problem?

yes exactly. and wingmen must profit from this trade mission also a reputation or something. that would be fun. maybe npc pirates can attack the escort too.

Hi everyone,

We’ll also be having beta test periods for these major updates and access to these will be open to players who already have beta access for the game. More details on this will be revealed in the coming weeks.

Michael

Hi Michael,

will there be any chance for users who bought the Mercenary or Final Edition to join the beta testers group?

Cheers,
SanMiguel

Well, this is good news all round and I have to say that it seems that our complaints have been heeded as they are recruiting more people to manage the Paid Expansions and be able to Support this game, so is it just me or do you think they thought the game was finished and that they were just going to work on 'Paid' expansions?
.
Either way, I am pleased that they will be improving the current game as well as expanding it, so all is well!
.
I took a few weeks off as I got a bit bored, but played last night and it was quite enjoyable after a break, although I forgot half of my key bindings and my landings were a bit ropey!

Yes, good point, +1 because if it wasn't for most of us Mercanarys complaining, we would never have got this level of committment from FD. I think its useful to have non-fan boys involved in Beta testing, it would save a lot of heartache after its been released!
