Devs, are you working on PS5/Xbox Series X or not???!!!

Odyssey will be a shambles on current gen. The fact you have delayed it proves this will require optimisation and we all know that in current form the console editions aren't the best for stability or performance. Lag can be atrocious on base PS4/Xbox, and that ain't just networking as backwards compatibility will show that it can run better on the newer consoles. But I dislike the thought you might be betting on the new consoles settling for their backwards compatibility factor and think instead that you guys ought to be working on PC ports to the PS5/Xbox Series X to offer some degree of parity looking forward. Why wait for the game to grow old and tired enough to become irrelevant to those platforms. Get Elite out before the new consoles blow up with new games that actually start to give the next gen some appeal.

They have not revealed if they're working on on ports to the Series X/S or the PS5 and with it being Frontier you'll not find out if they are until they're ready to release it.

Are you basing it off he Alpha. If so, I wouldn't. We have been playing an unoptimised version. They have said optimisation is to come for the PC version and it will be better optimised at release.

Even with optimisation my bet is Odyssey won't run great on the OG xbox one/ps4.

It all reminds me a bit of Gran Turismo 5 when it got developed and released on PS3.

Was I glad that Polyphony stuck with the PS3 instead of PS4? As a PS3 owner, sure. But it wasn't pretty, which had a fair impact on my enjoyment of the game - screen tearing and frame drops on a racing game = big no no. In hindsight they shouldn't have bothered really.

“Optimisation” will surely require platform specific changes: suppport for that fancy new NVidia FPS enhancement thing, for example?

But will they really be able to simply “optimise” for the PS4? I doubt it ... more like “disable stuff” ... which is why we NEED a PS5 version because that should be capable of PC-level graphics rather than hobbled by whatever they can cut the game back to in order to “support” the last-gen consoles.

With 75% of the CPU being used to display the color orange I'm sure the next 25% can be used for the game tho u may have to overclock it to get the fade to black to transition correctly.

If it runs on the minimum spec of horizons, I would be surprised if it doesn't run on Xbone/PS4. It's not like the graphics are spectacular.
It seems elite and the bells and whistles it doesn't have can run on a toaster. If anything its poor optimization on devs the end. Elite has so many missing gigs it's not funny. What is this game doing that it doesn't look that good but struggling to perform?
There are indy fodder with more data packed in!

What would elite look like if they kept up with advances in tech and methods?

Probably something to do with the drawing distance. Even with LOD it is still a performance hog.
