DEVS if you see this please add a HUD change colour option if you can

To be honest it doesn't matter if you like orange or not you should still support the request for a HUD colour change as sort of a libertarian principle. I would honest pay a MAX of $20 to have the option to change the HUD colour like PC players do on console. The orange pretty much makes the game unbearable for me, for most people it would be a preference level thing but for myself it literally makes the game more or less unplayable

Why are players adamant on paying for things?!

We can already do this. Using notepad, of all things.

Why do you WANT to be charged $20 to be able to do it from the game "with their blessing"?

Because this is a PS4 forum? I agree though I won't be paying for it.

It's on principle...this is NOT some God-level coding that has to happen, this isn't consuming vast amounts of the art team's life.

It's something players can already do, albeit not without access to the files as on a console. People actually want to pay $20 for FD to give a few sliders that on a PC would tweak a few lines in a simple text file?

I think you're missing a point here. Micro transactions aren't necessarily a correlation between time and effort and the price of them. In the absence of a subscription model, offering a method of payment for people over what may seem trivial and cosmetic changes allows anyone who objects to paying for these to continue playing the game without missing out on anything major but people who want to give Frontier money as continued support can do. It's also a kind of badge in game to say "Yeah, I bought the micro because I LOVE the game!".

Personally I would happily pay a monthly fee to play ED (caveat, yes I haven't bought it yet, but it dominates my thoughts already!) but Frontier have chosen not to go down that route so I will support the game financially as much as I can.

I've bought a fairly considerable number of paint packs and support FD where I can.

What I don't get is why people actively want to pay for something...especially given other players can already do it, it's not that mighty a task, and frankly we've been waiting on news around this for many many months.

Support them in the right way. Don't give 'em the idea that they can charge you for breathing while playing.

If they do add this as a feature it needs to be far more customisable than a slider. I would want to change different HUD elements and the starport services to different colours depending on what's easier to see. I have a significant vision imparement, so what's easier to see on the mission screen or outfitting like a light blue, is different to what's easier to see on a HUD element over space (targeting or fire groups), the original orange.

Also making someone pay for a feature that makes the game easier for the disabled would be unacseptable. Troa Barton has mentioned several times that the orange interferes with his disability, so I know I'm not alone.

I just hope it comes eventually and is free. Sorry about the rant in the second half of my post.

If I understand it correctly, one can modify a pc version by adding a "Mod". One can not add mods to an xbox or ps4. So shouldn't the question in addition to numerious like it be directed to them rather than Frontier. They (Frontier) simply provide the pogram and it's options at the request of the two other platforms. Any and all issues of a game purchased from Sony for instance, must go through Sony, not Frontier. If Sony has issues, compiled by their customer base, they go to Frontier.

BUT.... Mods ARE possible on the consoles. Skyrim for PS4 and Xbox supports mods. Unlike PC, I think the developer has to enable modding on the consoles, and I don't know if Frontier will do that. Some of the Skyrim mods change gameplay considerably, which could break a multiplayer / shared universe game like ED.

Fallout 4 has mods as well. There was an issue though in that Sony limited the size of the mods and a lot of the most popular ones did not get ported over. However they prevented the accumulation of trophies and I tried a couple and they were not very stable so I stripped them out and rolled back my game save.

My point exactly, mods are modifcations to designed programing. On a pc, one has access to the various files. On councles one has no access to them, so in part mods on a council are meerly changes in programming. Changing (editing) files can do wonderfully things to a program, then again, it can completly reek havoc. Hence no support on anything but tried and proven modifications (additions) to the original programing by designer of councle, not the game developer.

Mods involved on a PS4 in regards to "Fallout" to years to be approved. The number one reason was due to support issues. Should one mod a pc program and cause something to not work properly; Oh, well, it's ones problem. On a PS4 for instance, should an aporoved mod do the same, it's Sony's problem. The first exampl is ones own expense, the second effects the bottom line and subsequent investors. Hence councles are extremly slow at approving and incorporating (edited programing) mods.

Meh - comme cie comme ca - how may games actually have such minor vanity options available? Some yes, but certainly not the 'majority' of games i have played. Or if it is there I never bothered looking for it, so i guess i don't care. A bit like holo me, in a largely first person perspective game i couldn't care less if i look like Heidi Klum or Jabba the Hutt - i don't have to look at me.

I am less interested in 'fluff' and more interested in things that might alter my game play experience like engineered shields.

This option is probably my most wanted feature. I can't stand the orange, It's not relaxing and frankly super annoying. I love you guys and Elite looks like the greatest game ever made imo but the harsh orange is irredeemable. I won't be able to play it without getting headaches, I know this because I can only watch YouTube videos with a blue or lighter colour hud. I know I'm just one consumer and I don't necessarily deserve to have a request met but please mind it.

Quick sorta-kinda related question for anyone in the know - is it possible to turn off the HUD completely? You know, like turning off the panel lights in a flight sim? Obviously not for routine flying, but perhaps when you just want to float in space and look out the window and enjoy the vista.

No but you can do a ton of stuff with the camera view now so I don't think you'll be left wanting in that regard.

As always, Obsidian Ant to the rescue;

I'm old and have a problem with the younger millennials form of English. I've heard or read somewhere recently, that "Orange is the new black". I've no idea what the hell that means, except it makes ED on the forefront of new again trend in text color. For us elderly, Orange text was an humungest event back in the days of black and white. Which makes it a "Retro" and few will object (based on sales) Retro is the "Bomb" "The cats meow", "23 Skidoo", "Cool", etc. etc. etc.

'Orange is the New Black' is a show on Netflix about a white, middle class American woman who is caught smuggling drugs and sent to prison. It's based on an autobiography. The reference to orange is about the orange jumpsuits that new prisoners have to wear. It's a pretty good show.

Proved my point, getting old. I thought it was in reference to texting. Now I just gotta figure out what a "Netflix" is. LOL

There is a hide hud button on the PC version, CTRL+ALT+G is the default. IDK if it is bindable. It does exactly what you describe - turns off the hud completely.
