Ships Diamondback Stats and Figures

ok diamondback price will be 560k all beta prices appear to be whatever its real price is less 2 digits, so 5,600 = 560,000.

Fully stripped down with no weapons hardpoints, d2 power, d4 thruster, a4 FSD, d2 life support, d2 power dist, d2 sensors, c4 fuel tank and a3 scoop was 28.39 ly,

which is pathetic for a combat explorer and kinda makes it pointless, asp at 6.6 mil stripped out is 34 ly, Including a shield, I could add weapons and still out distance the diamond back in jump range, Even with a c3 fuel tnak this will only get too 29.55 ly

Very unimpressed.

Edit, got my decimal points in the wrong place price corrected

Entilzar, try d1 dist, and see if d3 thrusters work.

But actually it sucks for other reasons than range. It has a 16T tank, but 1 size 2 util, and 3 size 3 utils. First, this means the best scoop for its tank (3A) will fill it in 1 min 30 secs (!!!???).

Second it only has 4 total slots, so after scoop and 2 sensors it only has 1 slot left over for either AFMU or shield, but not both. In other words, it is worse than the adder, a ship that costs 40k, for exploration.

Mike Evans can keep harping about how it's fun to fly and maneuverable and all, but basically it is _garbage_ for exploration. Absolutely garbage. It lacks base stats for it, regardless of how well it flies.

All depends on where you are exploring and who you are fighting. I don't think the second half of this story has come out yet and that, when told, will snap it into perspective.

Think of it as a Battlestar ship. It's no Colonial Viper, but more of a battlefield reconnaissance Colonial Raptor. Pop in, gauge enemy defenses, take a few hits, and pop out again.

I'm also very disappointed with it. For explorers who already own a Asp it seems completely useless. It's only use seems to be either a stepping stone towards an Asp for newer players or a fighter with a reasonable jump range.

It's not that it doesn't beat the asp, it doesn't even beat the adder, a 40k ship. Adder is dual role too, it's a decent trader for its price range.

I really hate all the whiners. "Oh it's a useless crap...", "It doesn't have 100ly jump range", "I can't fit it with 6 huge weapons", etc.
Go back to your Vulture/Asp/Conda, because compared to them, everything is crap.

DB looks like fun and I will most definitely use it for exploration. I had an Asp for around 5 hours, than traded it back for T6, as it was way more fun. Now I'm flying an Adder, and enjoying it immensely. I think I'll head back to civilisation to get DB, probably by the time I get back 1.3 will be up.

As a minor suggestion: I think DB is a bit to heavy for it's size, I was was expecting something like 120-140t, not 170t.

I tried a lower dist and lost boost ability, I halved the tank so the scoop can fill it faster but even that has its issues, cause most explorers only half fill a tank and with a half full tank on a half tank you might empty it in one jump and not be able to jump again if its a non scoop star, which make it a disaster to micro manage,

sorry and all but unless this thing could do 40-50 ly jump without weaps n shields and 35-40 with its pointless for exploration,..

Well yeah, if it were 120-140 T it would have asp range at least. I would be willing to forgive its small number of components then. "Stop whining about the diamondback, by the way can you give it this huge buff that will make all the whiners shut up?"

although of topic im also struggling with the point of the courier too, its pretty its fast - ish, but not really required at this price point.

Good point Puca. For pure exploration even the adder seems better. So what is the diamondback good for?
A cheap explorer with good defense for inhabited fringe systems? Don't see it's use currently, but maybe fringe systems become much more dangerous in the future?!

I feel that it's not really an explorer ship. It's just a fighter that doesn't have a terrible jump range like most of the dedicated fighter ships.
