I've been happily mining away for a week or so, earning merits, as well as doing one of my favourite relaxing activities in ED.
Since ED launched, mining has always been a bit of a black sheep of the family of activities in ED, often poorly rewarded, occasionally mega buffed, only to be nerfed into the ground again.
Balance is something FD sometimes seem incapable of, either going to one extreme or the other.
Every hour or two of mining i was getting 3-4 levels of PP.... too much? Maybe. Compared to other stuff, perhaps on the high side, but there again, mining isn't that popular, so perhaps could be encouraged. I was doing bounty hunting and PP CZs and getting a couple of levels per hour or two with those, so mining was better, but less exciting.
Today I log in, and go to do some mining. 2 hours of mining in a high CZ in a platinum hotspot and i get.... 1 level.
I'm feeling rather miffed.
Its always been the same with mining. I remember my joy at when FD finally did a mining CG... took them years to do one. And when they did, the rewards were pathetic.
I feel sorry for Zemina Torval fans, and its not surprising she has the lowest number of supporters in PP, because every time mining looks like a decently rewarded activity, FD nerf it.
Oh well, back to bounty hunting i suppose.
