Did Fdev just let slip the origin of Thargoids?

You know, I like the idea that they are but I wasn't sure until now, but I think it's seeming more and more likely!

I really like what Iskariot said:

I would love that.
It would be like a sword of Damocles hanging above our heads: Whatever of the Thargoids we encounter here in our Galaxy is just some sort of colonization effort of possibly a far larger and more powerful civilization from another Galaxy. The Thargoids might be a true intergalactic species and already be present in dozens of Galaxies.

That would be awesome and humbling.
It might be reason to be a bit more careful.
Who knows what resources the Thargoids can command.

Perhaps the relatively peaceful Thargoids we have encountered so far are intergalactic refugees fleeing for a much more aggressive conquering Thargoid faction from another Galaxy.

For all we know Thargoids may be probes for a much larger ship, at present all they do is scan, collect and leave

There's a lot of stuff in your comment that's news to me! "I thought this was already known? I thought it was also thus presumed they came over on Raxxla"?!I'm not aware that Klaxians and Oresrians are confirmed in-game at all (as in, you say "the symbols for Klaxians and Oresians" as though they're in-game??)Would you mind linking your sources for it all, I like to keep up to date on Thargoid Lore and there's obviously some stuff I've missed! Thanks :)
The words "KJlaxians" and "Oresrians" are canon and lore. They are the invention of humans based on interpretations of humans and largtely the imagination of humans. For example, "Unicorns" is a word that exists and most people have a vague unsderstanding of what it represents or the 'reality' of that concept. This is thanks to Drew Wagar. There is NO solid evidence or confirmation whatsoever that there are any such distinctions with regards to Thargoids other than this human invention.

If you read Out of the Darkness you'll see that there is. It's the Oresrians that are telling us this info - and Linneaus says that they call themselves Oresrians, though I imagine that's a "humanisation" of whatever word they use, since I doubt a series of clicks is easily pronounceable :) So, probably that it's a human word that they chose to describe themselves, something like that.

@ moribus - I didn't say Oolite was lore, I was speaking on "Oolite lore" and how much might have slipped in to ED (I'll try to pin peculiarities down but I need more "knowns" for a clear image). My later edit on that old post made it clearer, I hope. Hearing that Wager was into Oolite enough to make content adds fuel to my belief-fire.

@ concept of narrative "details" and "not pure lore" in official novels. - Um, k. Great. On top of old games not being canon. Forever unknowns with no lore. Why are we even trying? It's clearly a massive circle jerk by design and we'll never figure anything out "for sure." Nothing is true, everything is permitted.

I'm going to need a few days away from the game again. I'm trying to care, but damn.

Anything in the official licensed fiction novels is Canon afaik. Some timeline events in the classic Elite games were removed or changed for ED.

Right, though even then you must be cautious. Events in the novels are canon, but if a character in an official novel says something, they may still be incorrect or lying.
