Horizons Did I make an 80,000,000 cr mistake?

Lot of negative things said about the Beluga in this thread, and I have to agree with them, but.... I have one. It's not engineered. I can make 15 million an hour on a good day. I like it :) Jump range is not good, but I only take local (<200 ly) missions. I did say it was probably not the ship for the OP, but I do take multiple missions and for me the ship is well worth having. Rubbish in a fight, but just about fast enough to run away from one. The only thing I do find annoying is the heat management. Just look at a star a bit funny and you cook. That is the only thing I might bother with taking it to an engineer for.

TLDR - Not for everyone, but a ship worth its salt nonetheless.

The first thing I did was took it along to an engineer to clean up the drive. I'm also loathe to sell it after all the hassles engineering the FSD. But I might just keep that bit in storage for another ship.

My Beluga is heavily engineered, and has a 32 Ly range, which is decent when I have 4 heavy cabins on board, but even engineered, it sucks in combat, and you're right, putting a fighter bay in it is pointless, cause the choice is either a fighter bay or a size 6 fuel scoop, if you go with the fighter bay, you can only get a size 4 scoop which means it takes forever to fill the tank, even after only one jump, and the ship runs hot as it is so you will have to move away from the star to cool down and move back in to finish fueling. Although, with the huge tank on it, you can forgo a scoop all together and still travel a long way, but you will have to stop every so often and pay for fuel. I would rather have the size 6 fuel scoop and forego the fighter bay. Just wish it had more speed. With level 5 Dirty drive, its still boosts under 400, which is rather slow when trying to boost away from interdictions. It gets to Anaconda speed, but the difference is, the Conda can withstand a bit of a pounding, the Beluga can't.

You just encountered the biggest flaws of this game: endgame and ship differentiation. Buying bigger, endgame ships don't really open any new gameplay options...you'll do the same activities, probably faster, but nothing new for sure. On top of that, someone replied you with the same answer everyone gets when asking which ship Is better for "something": Python or Conda. Some ships suffer from lack of role differentiation more than others, the Beluga is one of the worst from this point of view.

it's not the Beluga's fault but the missions are really badly made.
I wish they'd put someone else to work on that.

The people responsible of missions seem better suited to cleaning bio waste.
(maybe that'll cure their obsession with that stuff)

It would be nice to be able to work passenger hubs and tap into the inevitable wish for people/things that aren't people to move between centres of population. I quite fancy turning up to a docking station in System A, loading up with a full compliment of passengers and taking them across to Planet B, maybe via Planet C. I would be happy providing a bus service for the Galaxy.

Flying happy

The best thing you can do at this point is sell your Beluga and get a respectable ship. Forget you ever went down to the Saud Kruger Dealer.

Here are the 'known best ships for each activity" ,and what actually is the best ship for it :
Passengers : Orca, Beluga --- Actual best Conda
Trade : T7 T9 --- Actual best Conda (Cutter is rank locked so is 2nd best)
Exploration : Asp X & DBX --- Actual equal if not better Conda
Combat : Pick your ship --- just as good an engineered Conda
Best all rounder : Conda --- actual best all rounder Conda :D
Ship that needs the most nerf but will NEVER happen : Conda

I own one(Conda), but it is gathering dust(as is my Beluga). I prefer 2nd best, which gives more variety & is more fun :)

I use one for soft RP reasons. It just seems wrong that I can fit a cabin to say an anaconda, that obviously slots into some internal space and get the same rewards. There is no view, no windows, no gym, bar etc in the anaconda.

The rewards should be higher for using the specialised ship. I would like to see the mission be available to any ship, but with a 50% bonus for using a cruise ship.

That is exactly what I did with mine.. It was a beautiful ship though. Like a Princess Cruise Liner.

That's too funny!

My Belugia was christened Galactic Princess. I even had a cruise director named Julie. :D

But three days ago The Galactic Princess was stripped of all engineered modules and scrapped. Maybe they will build a handful of useful Sidewinders out of her hull.
