did they just confirmed we get hull repair limpets in the future?

To my recollection Sandro said he wanted Repair Limpets but, immediately said there were no plans to have them appear. We can take this one of two ways, insist it was a promise made by Sandro, or let the wheels turn knowing there is someone, on the Dev staff, that wants to see them.

I kinda feel like I know which way the community will choose but, I have my own ways.

I hope so, I could do with this when out in the black, but they'll probably weigh a lot and take up valuable slot space.

I think there is a lot more things FD can do with the limpets, hull repair being one of them and...
Exploration limpets being another. I think entering a new system and being able to launch limpets towards bodies in that system and getting all the data that way would be much more interesting and fun gameplay than having to fly to each and every moon and planet yourself all the time.

But if FD wants to add more functions for limpets than they will have to implement a much more flexible controller system, otherwise the mechanic will become very limiting and stifling very soon. We do need controllers that can program limpets for more than one task.
Using limpets will become much more flexible and fun if you can program them for whatever you want to use them.
For example if I currently encounter an npc that needs fuel I never have fuel limpets on board, but I do have collector limpets or mining limpets that are useless in the situation. So the encounter is frustrating, because I have no gameplay options. With a multicontroller I could simply program the limpets for the task at hand.

Multi programmable controllers could be much more expensive.
It would be worth it too me.

Limpets would see much more use I bet if the controllers are more flexible.

Guys, you know what frontier are like. The more you say "x feature confirmed" every time someone says they'd like to add something, the less likely they are to discuss their future plans because they think everyone's going to jump the gun again. Let's not encourage them to be even more tight lipped and just say "yes I'd like to see that too"

so no option about kidnapping some devs and demanding features to get their hostages back? Man the pirate spirit in this forum really went down hill.

I would also like limpets working different, like one universal limpet controller, but individual drones able to be bought, fuel, hull repair, collector, prospector etc ... it's painful havign to sactrifice so many internals for all different kinds of limpet stations and additionally even space for the limpets. the way how limpets work could be one by targetting:

taget friendly subsystem: repair limpet
target friendly ship: hull repair:
target friendly fuell: refuel
target debris: collector, target enemy canopy: hatch breaker
target asteroid: prospector limpet fired.
list other stuff I forgot or could be possible

this would allow some cool, rescue PS's to eb built with long jump range and a limpet controller module and stuffed with various drones for serveral purposes to save people.

Yes. God yes. Universal limpets PLEASE. Limpet controller modules are stupid.

- cargo transport limpet

I would be okay with letting large ships load/unload at outposts in exchange for having to carry the limpets and wait for them to move the cargo.

- supercruise decoy limpet

If you think you're about to get interdicted, you fire a limpet and for a short time, maybe 30 seconds, there are two of you on the enemy's scanner. This reduces your chance of being interdicted by 50%

- hacker limpet

If you've ever played FTL, it's the same idea as the hacking module in that game. If the limpet attaches to your target, it disrupts some system. Of course, you'd need to have a chance of shooting it down before it attaches, so make PD and turrets target them. And make them susceptible to ECM.

- pirate beacon limpet

If it connects to your ship, it attaches a beacon that makes you show up on the galaxy screen (if you have that filter enabled). The purpose is, if you're a transport and you're being attacked by a pirate, you can tag him (right before he kills you) and it's a tiny inconvenience for him, because now bounty hunters can more easily find him. Would only work on a ship with a warrant - in fact, it should probably broadcast the warrant amount. Illegal to remove, so the pirate would have to go to an anarchy system to have it removed.

Grappling hook limpet. When pirates attach to the enemy hull and then spacewalk to board the trophy ship!

holo battles on the ships?

Dear passangers you are currently raided, please lay down or my holo rifle gonna shoot you holo holes in your skulls, now pleace place all valuables in this holobag.
