Newcomer / Intro Died and can't plot route back to system

Hi

I found a nice system about 39 light years away from my starting system, lots of pirates to kill. However one of the systems security ships strayed into the path of my fire and got hit. It happened to me once before and I managed to escape, but this time I got splatted by them.

It reset me back to my starting system, now the galactic map cannot plot a course back to where I was. but it's the same ship I started with, with the same range, so there must be a way to get there.

So is there any way to tell the game to reset you back to a different system from the one you started in?
Also why can't the game find a way back to where I was before?, I find the galactic map very difficult to use in general. It's not very user friendly IMO, needs some improvements

When you die you go back to the last place you docked so if the system you like has a station go dock there first before pirate hunting again and if not pick somewhere nearby. It can take the route plotter a while to work out the route so open the galaxy map and let it run for a minute or two and then see if it can plot the route.

Well upon re logging in the course plotter has now found the route. So the advice given was helpful to me

I now return to the sun drenched shores of Pa Para and surrounding systems
