Different colors and shapes maps to asteroid composition.

It bothers me a lot that all asteroids is almost identical. Would not different compositions give different shapes and colors? That would be nice

I would love to see that. Right now, you have to use a prospector on every roid to see what it contains. More often than not, 90% of them contain cheap ore that really isn't worth mining. A colour would indicate more chance of some decent ore and you'd only need to send a prospector to the one with a specific colour to see how much of the ore it contained rather than checking to see if it contained the ore you want at all. It would mean more moving around when you mine but less time and limpets spent prospecting useless roids in your search for something worth mining.

As well as the OP's suggestions, I would love to see some actual moonlets added to the rings. They could just put a small (landable?) body in the ring gaps! I don't know what the smallest landable object is, but you do have 300 km scale asteroidal moons in the game. if those could scale down to 10-30 km that would be awesome. .

This does happen, I have seen bodies in ring gaps, ok the ring gap was quite large, about 5m km. Body sizes go right down to 137km radius (that's the smallest I think) but we have seen footage of asteroid bases possibly coming in 2.3 so you may get your desire sooner than you expect :D

It maybe that all the asteroid bases will be hand made and positioned, but still that's not a big problem, I think there is a lower limit of 100km for procedural generation of moons/planets but I could be wrong.
