So, the tag says it all. Having been in this game since its launch over here on PS4. I've noticed a particular lack of variety in ship designs of the game itself. Not to say there aren't many different ships. But rather that they all equate to the same ship with different stats. Even then though, those stats don't vary all that much. To that end i am leaving this here to get your guy's feedback on what kind of design changes you would like to see. I dought the devs will check it. But it never hurts to try right?
My first thought is one I'm surprised hasn't been stated more often. Why are all the weapons mounted on the front of ships? Even the giant vessel such as the Corvette class vessels and the newer behemoth that is the Type 10 Defender have had everything mounted in generally the same direction. This inevitably leads to all ships acting like a fighter in some capacity, albeit with different weights and maneuverability. I personally would like to see that change. I believe that large vessels should have multiple different hard-point placement options to allow the turrets to cover all angles of the ship. Especially on large vessels like the Type 10 which struggule to deal with faster and more maneuverable ships. I also believe that vessels designed specifically for heavy tanking should actually be able to. vessels such as the federal Corvette and the Type 10 should easily be able to out-tank ships such as the Anaconda. Yet from what I'm hearing the Anaconda is at least on Par with it for potential armor and actually outclasses it in terms of potential DPS.
I would also like to bring up a possible use for deploy-able fighters. Give them Chaff. I've noticed this particular in NPC combat zones that deploy-able fighters do not last vary long do to the incredible accuracy NPC ships are capable of. To that end I think it should be a standard attachment to deploy-able fighters to have at least chaff. And can we see some more significant effectiveness to the Guardian fighters abilities to damage regular ships? I know their meant primarily for thargoids and all. But it seems to me in light of the terrible rewards for fighting them, that the fighters should have some additional purposes beyond just thargoid fighting. Maybe make a version that has some kind of EMP beam that randomly shuts down modules or causes targeting systems to go haywire? It would certainly make them a more worthwhile endeavor and a more worthy target on the battlefield.
Or maybe Mining fighters? How useful could those be? Deploy a portable fighter for a friend to operate that contains different mining equipment. That way while the main ship harvests the asteroids themselves the fighters could be used for picking off various surface and subsurface deposits. Useful in particular for large mining vessels such as the Type 9 or Imperial Cutter.
What do you guys think? What ship changes or ideas do you guys have? Would you guys want changed in the ship designs. Let us know.
