When Fleet Carriers were announced I was under the assumption that there would be a variety of sizes and perhaps purposes. Now it seems as though that a purpose can be given by adding a support carrier so that’s off the table and I’m mostly okay with that.
However, I still would like to see a variety of sizes of these carriers, perhaps with their own advantages. A smaller, more compact carrier could perhaps jump further and/or quicker, while obviously having less room for ships and additional modules(?). A larger carrier could be used as a proper station, while a smaller one would be more similar to a outpost. I’m mentioning this since they seem to be going for an approach like that.
Obviously this would also mean the costs of maintaining (not that I’m a fan of that perse nor do I know how much it will be) would be different for the sizes. Same would apply for the earning potential. A hypothetical small carrier would be cheaper to maintain however not as profitable as a larger one. Even the initial costs of purchase could be different.

As it stands now it looks like we only have one, which I’m not disappointed with but it would be interesting to see a variety of fleet carriers around the galaxy. I’ve heard that cosmetics will be available to fleet carriers so I’m already hopeful that will give us some diversity but I doubt it will alter the looks much. I for one love the look of the proposed science support carrier, if a cosmetic of a fleet carrier could match that look it would be great. Much better than a lick of paint which is more likely I’m afraid.
