Your Feature Request / Idea
Hey, I was planning to add a review for the newly implemented AI based on my last suggestion on Dinosaur Artificial Intelligence but eventually decided against it because each of the behaviors suggested there needs its own review an improvement and that likely would have needed a book, which I just haven't got the time to write lol
So, the last update implemented a much needed behavior to make all animals look more real: sleeping. Now, this didn’t require complete new animations, since most of them could come from sedating effects; yet, it should be worth noting that most animals did got new animations both for falling sedated and going to sleep. That’s a big, big 10 for you Frontier!
Yet, this comes the suggestion for further improve this mechanic, making all them feel more alive: an intermediate state of “resting”.
What do I mean by this? Well, most animals, specially big, grazing herbivores, usually spend much of the day ruminating the plant material they ate. Some of them could also fall asleep while the herd is resting, but most would just be lying down on the grass to rest while still alert, ruminating.
I know this would require new animations, and maybe it’s not among the most urgent suggestions, but I’ll just leave it here.
This, of course, would work also for carnivores, although I feel herbivores (specially big ones) are much more prone to fall onto this sort of behavior whenever they feel secure and idle.
Also, it would be amazing if this new sleeping behavior could be linked to the day/night cycle in the maps where that’s active. Troodon, Raptors, Deinonychuses and Dilophosaurus (I think) should be more active at night.
I would gladly add a couple of images for illustration purposes when I find out how xd but you can find plenty of examples in the Gyrosphere ride from the movie and certain clip from the Triceratops' Species Profile.
