Dinosaur Size Feedback (Post-Stream)

Jeez, people really need to let the Dinosaur size thing go now.

It was a minor issue in the grand scheme of things, and they went out of their way to fix it. It's now completely fine.

No more moaning about dinosaur sizes now please, let them concentrate on some legitimate issues.

I think the main problem her is, that the Giga has a ridiculous long tail. Thats what makes it 16m long.

Looks like the tail may be closer to the camera view, closer to the edge of the frame, and the head is turned in a bit. This would make the tail look bigger proportionally. Not saying the tail doesn't look long, but that picture might not be the best representation.

so the baryonyx is bigger than sucho too? I guess they really did just size up whatever predator was featured in the movie. eh, what can you do I guess.

Well based on this video, it seems I was wrong haha. The sucho is taller than the bary and after researching, this size is accurate to how it looked liked in real life so yeah [noob]

Important doubt resolved on the Giga. It will not measure 13.5m as the T-Rex. It will have approximately the same length as Spinosaurus thanks to this confirmation in reddit by Community Manager PCrowther_FD:

The initial publication of Bo is outdated. What do you think? It may seem that 15m long for Giga is oversized but everything fits. Adult Indominus Rex measures 15m long thanks to the DNA of Giganotosaurus so we could consider that a Giga in the JP canon would measure about 15m long. It is ingenious.

According to the Wikia, the I-Rex in JWE measures 15.5 meters, and the Giga appears to be at least that long in the size chart, so we can expect it to be anywhere from 15.5 to 16 meters after the update.

You are right.

We can also speculate that the gap between Giga 15.5m and T-Rex 13.5m can be covered in the future by Carcharodontosaurus with... 14.5m? Maybe they did it on purpose to leave a margin and put Carcha in the game in the future with an intermediate length between T-Rex and Giga. The excavation sites in Africa are still very poor with only one dinosaur per place. I do not know, I'm still crazy but the next dinosaur DLC could focus on Africa.

This could make sense.

I would not dare say the word "lie". It has really been a change of opinion. You can not be so radical.

First Bo said that Giga would measure 13.5m and in the transmission we see that Giga really is longer than they said. They asked for this change in the Reddit forums and have responded that Giga and Spino will now measure the same. They have changed their minds about the march.

I want to see all three in the game. If Giga and Spino are longer than T-Rex (as it seems that it will be) and T-Rex is taller than Giga and as tall as Spino (which seems to be that way too) I will be satisfied.

well im happy that the T-rex fanboys who yelled that Giga was fine being less than 12m long are getting their just reward. Oh how the tables have turned.

Thankfully, this kind of petty silliness has nothing to do with the game, or at least shouldn't. [wacko]

lol I hope the folks over at Frontier are reading this stuff. If it wasn't obvious before what kind of people they've been listening to then this should tell you all you need to know.

oh yeah, I have absolutely no problem with that. looks good to me. I am one of those who get bothered by wrong size dinos, but I understand 100% accurate isn't expected or actually even possible if you think about it (cmon these things haven't walked around in millions upon millions of years)

plus its Jurassic Park we are talking. I was already shrugging off the issue with the 3 big carnivores, but still very pleasantly surprised to hear the news of change.

Ironic how all the T-rex fanboys are raging now though. How exactly are you guys better?

You're not better if you think that.

As it was mentioned before, proportionally the giga's model has a much longer tail than the rex's. Same with the spino, longer tail and slimmer body than it had in JP3 so while i'm happy it got a little bigger, i' say now it's somewhere between 14-14,5m still scaling it up to 15m would've been the best (as well as making the model movie accurate) . Now back to the giga's model, as i said before thanks to the longer tail even if you scale it up to the t.rex's size it would still be much shorter, i guess after frontier realized it they decided that instead of making the two mach in lenght, they'll make them mach in height wich in my opinion was a good choice.

It's true. Dr. Grant from JP3 did say that these are theme park monsters and not the real thing haha could be wrong but I believe he said that. Still glad about the size change though! the new giga is going to look nice with the spino and the rex.

Meh, I don't feel like getting into a big debate over this and I think it's obvious enough that it doesn't need to be explained, but I'll answer your question.

1) The motive. As much as you guys went on and on about improving the game and making the "community" happy, it was obviously never about that. By your own admission it was just one butthurt faction of the community demanding that Frontier give another faction of the community the middle finger.

2) The hypocrisy. As much as you guys screamed about Rex being exaggerated, it was clearly never about accuracy. It was just a case of "Don't exaggerate that dino! Exaggerate MY dino instead!!!"

3) The context. The in-game Rex is accurate to the movie canon, even if it is slightly bigger than any confirmed real-life specimen. Just like raptors and Dilos are based on their movie counterparts. Giga, on the other hand, has never appeared in the franchise. So there is no obligation to exaggerate it in any way.

4) Rex is my favorite dino, but I'm not raging. And I don't think I've seen any other Rex enthusiasts raging about it either. Actually I said in a different thread that I'm ok with the changes as long as the changes are purely cosmetic and post-update Rex is strong like Rexy.

5) Interestingly, Giga has always been exaggerated in the media while Rex tends to get downplayed and humiliated. And I've never seen a Giga fanboy complain about that. So, by your own logic, doesn't that mean that Frontier was turning the tables and finally giving you guys your just reward when they undersized your Giga?
