Dinosaur Sizing Errors

I have found several sizing errors in the data sheets of various dinosaur species. Note that these may not be actual errors in the actual in game models.

Brachiosaurus is listed as 12.4 meters/40.8 feet tall, 21.5 meters/70.5 feet long, and weighing 56 tons. This about the same size as the Brachiosaurus altithorax holotype, which is actually estimated to be a subadult. The estimated adult size would have been about 13.4-14 meters/44-46 feet tall, and 25-26 meters/82-85 long, with an estimated weight of 48-56 metric tons.

Megalosaurus is listed as about 3 meters/9.8 feet tall, 6 meters/19.7 feet long, and weighed about 822 kg. However, this estimated length also seems to have been a subadult. As the largest known specimen of Megalosaurus bucklandii being about 7.9-8.5 meters/26-28 feet long, 2.7-3 meters/9-9.8 feet tall, and weighed about 1.8-2 metric tons.

Edmontosaurus is listed as being 3 meters/9.8 feet tall, 9 meters/29.5 feet long, and weighing about 3.2 tons. This would have been about the size of the Alaskan Species (kuukpikensis) or a subadult regalis or annectens. The model in the game is based on the regalis species - so those are the adult figures I will list - The Adult Edmontosaurus regalis is about 12 meters/39.4 feet long, 3.6-4 meters/11.8-13.1 feet tall, and weighed about 7.5-8 metric tons. Also, of note annectens would have been even larger at about 13.1 meters/43 feet long.

Qianzhousaurus is listed (in game data) as 10 meters/33 feet long, 3.5 meters tall, and weighing about 7.9 tons. Now - 7.9 tons is WAY over estimated weight for this species. Keep in mind that the holotype specimen is also estimated to be a subadult but, was estimated to be about 7 meters/23 feet long, 2.2-2.4 meters/7.2-7.9 feet tall, and weighed about 750-800 kg. The adult size is estimated at about 8.5-9.1 meters/28-30 feet long, 2.7-3.0 meters/9-9.8 feet tall, and likely weighed about 1.5-2 metric tons.

Therizinosaurus is listed (in game data) as being 5 meters/16.4 feet tall, 33 meters/108 feet long, and weighing 5 tons. I think based on real world finds that the height and weight seem to be fairly spot on. However, it's length is not 33 meters/108 feet long, but more like 10 meters/33 feet long. Based on the movie (Jurassic World: Dominion) I could even see Therizinosaurus being about 5.5-6 meters/18-19.7 feet tall, 11-12 meters/36-39.4 feet long, and weighing about 6-8 tons.

This just a few data bugs I have seen so far.

I was also looking at the data stats for Apatosaurus - while the length (27 m/88.6 ft), and height (6 m/19.7 ft) pretty much line up with the Jurassic World data for Apatosaurus - it's the weight listing of 20 tons that I have a problem with. As 20 tons is the estimated weight range for the 21.9-22.9 m/72-75 ft type specimen of Apatosaurus louisae. While the Jurassic World Apatosaurus is roughly based on the largest known specimen of Apatosaurus ajax (OMNH 1670) which is estimated to have been about 26-28 meters/86-92 feet long, and about 6 meters/20 feet tall. This specimen is also estimated to be about 35-38 metric tons. Note - that this the estimated weight (35-38 tons) also used in the original Jurassic World: Evolution

Also looking at Nasutoceratops' data - 7.6 meters/25 feet is about 9-10 feet longer than it should be. This is just WAY TOO BIG!!! As the real world Nasutoceratops is about 4.6 meters/15 feet long, 1.8 meters/5.9 feet tall, and estimated to weigh about 1.5 metric tons. I could even see the Jurassic World version of Nasutoceratops being a bit larger - say about 5 meters/16.4 feet long, 2 meters/6.5 feet tall, and weighing about 1.7-2 tons.

Also, Sinoceratops' data - 8.2 meters/27 feet long, & 4.3 meters/13.1 feet tall is quite a bit larger than it is real-world counterpart. Which is about 6.1 meters/20 feet long, and 2.7 meters/9.0 feet tall. Given that the Jurassic World Sinoceratops is a bit larger than it's real world counterpart - a good blend would be about 7-7.6 meters/23-25 feet long, & 3-3.5 meters/9.8-11.5 feet tall, and weighing 5-6 metric tons.

Looking at Deadnaughtus' data - I don't have a problem with it's height of 15.8 meters/52 feet tall, or weight of 65 tons, as these figures are fairly accurate in most known size estimates. But it's listed length of 18.6 meters/61 feet long is way, WAY to short - as it should be at least 26 meters/85.3 feet long - possible even 29-30 meters/95-98 feet long.

Also, Mamenchisaurus' data is way off as well - at 8 meters/26.2 feet tall, 21 meters/69 feet long, and weighing 14 metric tons. It should be between 12-15 meters/39-49 feet tall, 26-35 meters/85-115 feet long, and weighs 30-50 tons.

I found another sizing error with the Diplodocus data.

The data lists it as 24 meters/78.7 feet long, 4 meters/13.1 feet tall, and 12 tons - while this is lower size estimates for D. carnegii - which is estimated to be 24-26 meters/78.7-85 feet long, about 4 meters/13.1 feet at the hips, and estimated to have weighed 12-15 tons. Keep in mind the stats for Diplodocus in Jurassic World Evolution was about 29 meters long/95 feet long, 4.6 meters/15 feet tall and 16 metric tons - which would make it closer to size of Diplodocus hallorum - as it was estimated to be about 29-32 meters/95-105 feet long, about 4.6 meters/15 feet at hips, up to 6 meters/19.7 feet tall (head height), and weighed about 20-25 metric tons.
