Dinosaurs Constantly Escaping

My herbivores love to constantly escape and I don't know why. It's so annoying and it's ruining my parks.

Look at their stats, are any red? And check the overhead map view, are there gaps in the fence (I had the on my first red cage, that was annoying for guests ;) )

I put up a second fence (on the first island) to try & keep my ceratosaurus from munching on my guests.

Im on 2nd island now & finding similar, though Iv not built a 2nd fence as yet I can see I'm going to have to if they keep escaping.

Not sure if the fence breaks are just random places or if the dino's go for similar sections, might see if i can double fence where they break through....might work.

If you keep the stats in the green (not red), then all you need for the ceratosaurus is the light electrical fence. I have had no breakouts so far for the first 2 islands.

I've been informed that Dracorex don't play well with other species, so you may need a separate enclosure for them, save butting heads with other Dino's. :x

I put Dracos and Trics together and they got along alright, 4:3 ratio iirc.

Never had a break out on the 1st island, aside from the forced mission one. Just make sure everything is green and youre golden, got to 4.5 before I moved on.

Check there stats as they move around. My Brachiosaurus is giving me grief. One part of the enclosure she's fine and dandy, then she moves into the Forest and is like GRAWR TOO MUCH FOREST NOT ENOUGH GRASS MUST ESCAPE and starts kicking down fences.

Um.. how about removing that forest or would it be an too obvious solution ? :D

Give them all a good look-over for needs that are in the red. Often with herbivores, it's either a lack of space, not enough forest (or grassland), or not enough of their own kind in the enclosure. Some species, like ankylosaurs, also get antsy pretty quick if the overall population of the enclosure is too high.

I have noticed that social animals (aka, most herbivores) on larger pens occasionally lose track of their herd, freak out and immediately charge the fence.
The dino AI still needs some tweaking to make it a little more natural instead of brainless emosaurs.
This is the #1 cause of my dino breakouts, next to emo-departments which sabotage the park.

There needs to be an option to throw department heads into the Raptor pit.

You don't want to know how often it happened to me in all my years breeding gerbils that one desocialized and freaked out. Things like that happen. Especially if you give a bunch of social animals too much space

I've been pretty lucky I guess, on to Isla Pena now after having five starred the first three, no breakouts yet. Haven't had any of the draco troubles so many people seem to be having. Have four dracos in a pen with three styracosaurus, and three huayangosaurus with no issues

Check their stats. Some like Chungkingosaurus and Dracorex can be moody and require special care so just a heads up.

This.... this this this.

I found that out the hard way... with Ankylosaurus...have a pen that is too small, with too many other Dino's in there and oooh boy those ladies are cranky. I had one that just kept escaping, didn't kill anyone, just generally went for a gallop around to snarl at some weird looking two legged two armed creatures that she sees outside her pen.

At that point I only had 3 paddocks... 1 for herbivores and 1 for Carnivores, and 1 mixed as an experiment aaand she'd probably not enjoy being in the other mixed pen since there were already two of her species in there and a third would annoy them... those two already spend a good amount of time warding of the Dilophosaurus... Id rather not upset the balance and have a Dilophosaurus follow an Ankylosaurus out of the paddock, spitting on and eating all the guests.

Rule number 1... keep them happy...
Rule number 2... keep them happy...
Rule number 3... if you cant keep them happy, feed them to the biggest Carnivore you have in the park.

I've never had an herbivore break out and have had plenty of mixed enclosures however i give ankys their own. I put 3 in a medium sized pen and they're as happy as a clam. Love those guys.

Raptors on the other hand do not like the storms and broke out almost every time until I got heavy electric fences. They still damage the fences but haven't got out yet.
