Disable Track IR in Starport Services?

Hi!

I am using Track IR and when in [Starport Services] the menu items and my mouse is not in sync when headlook is not centered. This is annoying having keep my head centered and absolut still or remove the head tracking device when entering [Starport Services].

Is there a way , options or settings, to disable the track IR only when entering [Starport Services] ?

Best Regards,
CMDR Nick Sick

I press F9 when in stations which disables headlook - sorry can't remember if that's a TrackIR setting or Elite as not in game at the moment but this works for me so don't despair :)

ok, thank you. Binding a key, or F9 by default, to disable it manually in stations seems to be the thing.

But I wished FD had an option to automatically disable the headlook in starport services since it messes up the menus when using a mouse.

If its to do with the mouse cursor going a bit weird in movements to whats selected, thats down to the hardware mode cursor in the graphics settings.
If you disable it - you get to look around naturally while having your mouse actually map to where its meant to be :)

I use VoiceAttack keybind saying "Tracking" and it says "Travel Mode" & "Tracking OFF" and it says "Focus Mode". I say "Reset View" and it says "Resetting" to centre again.

You will develop a twitch eventually that will automatically switch the tracker off as soon as docking is completed. It will become an autonomous response. Whereas requesting docking shall always remain something that your subconscious will use to try to kill you.

I've had the wacky mouse cursor in station services for ages, with EDTracker.

To fix it, I went to Graphics options, changed "Hardware Cursor" to OFF. I then had a double mouse cursor, but that resolved itself when I exited the client and restarted.

The mouse cursor now sits "with" the Station UI as I turn my head. Joy.

I use Voice Attack. I turn my Track IR off and on (un-pause/pause) at will with a single command. (I always turn it off once docked for example).

I also use Voice Attack to recentre Track IR if needed. Whenever I un-pause TrackIR I also recentre as part of the same Voice Attack command.

Thanks for this Phil, I've given you rep. This was so annoying to have to pause TrackIR 5 at stations.

I've suggested this to FD, but just got derided by a few small-minded people who couldn't see the problem from my POV. (yay, internet)

I have yet to develop a "twitch" for turning head-tracking back on when I undock. So I usually go "damn I left head tracking off" when I need it most (e.g. combat, coming into approach of a planet/station, etc).

Awesome tip, that's been bugging me since I got my EDTracker.

^This guy! I recently started wondering what did change, why cursor started behaving weirdly when docked with headtracking! Totally forgot that I did try the hardware cursor mode

Yeah, I had the same "experience". Having to disable TrackIR to use starport services is IMO a fugly and unnecessary hack. At least they eventually fixed things so you can lock on to the side UI panels without breaking your neck.

Having the hardware cursor break because someone couldn't be bothered to produce a proper mapping is at least as bad.

Yes a voice attack command is the way forward - I should really add it to the end of my "request docking" command formula, but I still love looking around the station as I come in, even after all this time.
